This is fricking dumb to pay your women's basketball coach that much. I pray when our coach retires we hire a volunteer head coach so we're not wasting 1.2 fricking million dollars a year on a women's basketball coach. The sport is so awful it's not even funny.

UT would pay much more than that for the return on its investment.

Assuming we could have gotten a coach for $250k (I'm sure we could get a pretty good one for that) and assuming people pay about $10 a ticket to go to a game, she'll need to put 4,300 more butts in seats PER GAME to pay her salary. At the height of LSU women's basketball in 2005-2006, we only averaged 6200 a game. Her chances of being able to do that are slim.

I know this is simplifying it and leaving out some potential advertising, TV, merchandise, concessions revenue. But the point remains: this is a money loser for the athletic department in the long run. Considering the budget crunch the school is going through right now, I think this salary is borderline obscene
