Eades' dad was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995 and passed away in 2004.
I'm pulling for this kid more than ever now.

His dad was an amazing coach.

Coach Ned was an awesome coach. I played against his Pope John Paul teams many times before he went to Northshore. I also had a lot of friends who played for him at Pope. He was one of the most knowledgeable coaches I have ever met and also one of the nicest guys. I was extremely shocked and sad to hear he passed away when my dad told me. I can remember Ryan and his brother when they were little kids running around the ball fields at Pope with Coach and their mom who was/is also a great coach and athlete. Really nice family.
Btw, Ryan looks exactly like a young version of Coach Ned.

I agree 100%!!! I was always very impressed with them every time I went to Northshore. I remember Ryan's mom wearing Coach Ned's wedding ring on a chain around her neck while coaching softball.

Eades was already my favorite new pitcher coming into this season. This just make me pull for him even more.

I didn't know his background story until I read the article which I linked in today's paper.
You gotta' pull for a kid who went through that experience with his dad. And the part where he writes "DAD" on his cap made me mist up.

His younger brother is also a big time player. Hopefully we'll see him here in two years.
