Do you purge your crawfish with salt?

I never have. Seems like bullshite. But some people seem to swear by it.

All it does is torture the crawfish before you kill them. So NO...I don't purge with salt. Plus its a waste of salt.

It's useless. Those who do it only do so because of what they were told growing up. LSU did a study on it pretty recently showing that it did nothing pretty recently if anyone has the time to search for it.

It doesn't make a different but I never tell people that. I figure if it makes them feel better let them do it, salt is cheap.

I used to salt it doesn't do shite

If you really want to purge them then put them in an ice chest with clean water and put a fish aerator in the bottom overnight, and replace the water as it gets dirty

I usually say frick it and boil em you'll only get a few that you can actually taste the doo doo

People will offer scientific studies and anecdotal evidence. The easiest way to find out whether it has a perceptible effect or not is to try it out. If crawfish taste better for you after having purged them with salt than they do without purging, then it is pretty clear what you should do.

To answer your question, I haven't been able to tell a difference so I don't worry about purging.
