Some want JJ to run a spread type of offense and some want JL(or now) Mett to run the offense because they are Pro-style. Like you said earlier, either way based off of all of their pasts we loose one aspect of offense with each QB.
we have 5-6 damn good RB's if we want to run, we dont need a friggin QB to run...we need one to throw....thats the whole reason i want Jlee or Mett...they can throw, if I wanted a running QB id put Shep or Ware back there...play action, sell the fakes hard = lethal offense with our talent

11-2 as a starter last season
Ok Lovey Smith..... JJ didn't win us any of those games. Take JJ out and put someone else in and we still win those games. Take out our defense and special teams, and we lose.
LSU football has shown that we don't necessarily need a hesiman QB to win big. We just need someone who can manage the game properly and not turn the ball over. JJ can barely do that (if at all in most cases).
Your argument is ridiculous.

And Jefferson had the same issue the past 2 seasons. Plenty of balls looked like interceptions only the defenders dropped the ball. Hence why I said later that Pick 6's are a lot of luck as so many key things have to factor in for it to become a pick 6.
I never said JJ didn't have issues with Int's or near INT's. It wasn't the last two years, it was just last year. My comment was in opposition to your comment that Lee was nearly past his back-foot-panic-lobs. True he stepped up in a couple of situations, but he hasn't really did anything to take the job and if people are saying he saved the Tenn and Florida game they need to go back and watch the game on lsusport.net. JJ performance and JL performance was almost equal. They both sucked that day.
quote:That's usually what qualifies a QB as run first. What do they do when they don't see what they like? Some run, some throw it away, and some make turnovers.
He isn't a run first QB, he becomes one when he feels pressured or panics. Part of that is I believe is because he saw what happened with Lee in 08 and how he was treated and he does not want to take the chances.
quote:That was cleary a error in his eval by the recruiting services. The only reason he didn't run a lot was because he wasn't asked to and he was chucking it to Tim Molton and whoever that #5 guy was, he was pretty nice. He should not have been ranked 7 spots behind blaine gabbert, 4 spots behind luck, or 2 spots behind landry jones.
Jefferson was the #8 Pro-Style QB coming out of high school.
quote:That's where they messed up then and is the biggest reason GC ain't here no more. What were the last two QB's who won NC's at LSU? Running QB's that can throw.
In offenses that were designed for them to run. Pat White, Charlie Ward, Tommy Frazier, among others. LSU did not run an offense that past 2/3 seasons that wanted the QB to run the ball. It did not dictate that the QB tuck it and run.

quote:Jefferson looks to throw at first and when he feels pressured or panic's then he tends to take off. It looks as though we disagree on what a "run" first QB is suppose to be. Jefferson throws it away on the occasion if the running lanes are not open. Last year and 08 he tried to sit in the pocket and pass the ball which resulted in sacks. This year he did more on his feet but I would not say he was "run" first.

quote:I would not classify either Mauck or Flynn as "running" QB's.

Flynn was second on team with 100 rushes however only had 215 for season. Part of that can be attributed to LSU not having a running game until Vincent stepped up. Of course he also threw the ball 359 times that season which was actually more than Russell threw in 06 and 8 less than Rohan in 2001.
Mauck had 79 attempts which would have placed him 4th on the team rushing attempts for 97 yards. He also threw the ball 358 times that season.
Neither where "running" QB's they were mobile in sense they could avoid the rush (although both were sacked a ton) and guys who could pick up a first down as needed.
I guess we could say Aaron Rodgers was a running QB who can throw as well. He finished with third most rushing attempts and second most amount of yards.

Damn, Flynn tore it up. How come he didn't win the heisman?
Just kidding. I know it's a typo.
Unless that was his total yardage including passing.

Mauck and Flynn did a Joe Montana imitation and ran for the sticks.
JJ tries too, but is not as good at it. I think its because he often (but not always) works across the line too close to the line, so he does not have room to maneuver.

In '09, JJ's running hurt the offense, badly. It was one of the reasons the offense flopped. I have to say he improved somewhat on that last year, but his passing got worse. Probably a correlation there somewhere.
