I think the question is How do you know this 100%? Are you with him on a one on one level or something?

I feel everyone on the "dislike" to be nice but I am willing to wait and see, unlike many around here.

I will too. It's been the defense the last two years. If he improves and helps the team win, I will be 100% behind him. He still has a ways to go.

Winning + Better QB Play = Wnning Championships which is more important than winning

Yep. To win the SEC and contend for the NC, LSU needs better QB play. It' is the only missing ingredient IMO.

This year better QB play may be more needed than last year. LSU replacing a lot on special teams, key members on the defensive side of ball, and a couple of pieces on offense. QB may have to step up and assume more responsibility.

Sad but, most likely, true.

A ways to go:

like passing to the receiver so he doesnt tip the ball up in the air trying to jump up and get it.

like passing to the receiver in stride, on plays other than just short slants.

like dropping a long ball in, and hitting a man streaking down the sideline. that would be a fricking miracle. Has there ever been even one by JJ?

like not throwing into the dirt when a receiver is trying to get down to keep from being killed.

I am sorry JJ has had every chance to improve his play. You cant tell me noone has ever told him that he needs to work on his mechanics. This is his responsibility. He has been the weak link on this team and has been unwilling or unable to step up. During the arkie game when his stats came up all I could do was stare at the floor, it was embarassing. I hate for him, but it is time for a change.

Glad to see some positive people on here. I can certainly understand why there would be some skepticism about him, but there's no denying that SOMEWHERE in him is the ability to be a good QB.

Look, no one is saying the kid is a good for nothing lazy bum, but I could get out there and try my heart out...but that still doesn't make me a talented QB.

You can make all the excuses you want. In the few years he's been here, he has made minimal progress. And as fans we've sat here and watched him make the EXACT SAME MISTAKES week in and week out. At some point as a collegiate player you have to look at yourself and correct mistakes you see yourself making on film. Was Crowton poor at developing QB's....sure seemed like it, but JJ didn't seem to make any progress for himself either.

And any insinuation that had JJ been under different coaching, he would have been heisman level, is absurd. Some people can play QB at one of the best programs in college football and others only have the ability to be average. JJ is simply average.

You know a tree by it's fruit. JJ's progress has been minimal at best. Obviously it's either poor work ethic or extreme lack of talent at the QB position on his part. Either way, it still makes him an average QB at best. Nothing personal, it's just a fact.

11-2 as a starter last season. all JJ does is WIN. 3td passes and a rushing TD in the cotton and the negatigers are still out in full force in the off-season.

Eh, I think everyone will agree that the QB at LSU has to play better, no matter who it is, for LSU to have a chance for the SEC championship and the NC. That isn't hating, that is reality.

Let me guess. You are one of the JJ apologists that kept saying "he's only a sophomore, he's only 19, he's blah, blah, blah (insert your favorite excuse for why he sucked up the field)".

He has stunk except for those few games when he has had extra time to prepare, and/or more importantly, when he was playing against a team not from the SEC. And don't tell me how hard he's worked (unless you have first-hand knowledge), and as for singing his praises as a person, I have seen a pouty, petulant, finger pointing player that does not display the demeanor one would want to see from the team's supposed leader.

I don't hate him, I try not to hate anyone, I just wish Les Miles love affair with him would end and we would upgrade the position to where we can get our passing offense out of the triple digit ranking he has carried us to. Twice.

I agree that he got better as the season progressed but his regressions from 09 to last year is what concerned me the most. I like the kid and want him to do well but at times he couldn't make basic throws out of the pocket. I'm not one that cares about technique and throwing motion but our QB has to be able to step up in the pocket and throw to open receivers - and good ones at that.

The fact that people keep saying "he only won when he had like two weeks or more to prepare" is just stupid.

LSU winning after having time to prepare is a result of the coaches having time to prepare a thorough gameplan, not mainly the QB, who does what his coaches tell him to do. It took GC and CLM two weeks or more to prepare, not JJ.

When we only had one week to prepare the plays were so predictable because that wasn't enough time for GC to add wrinkles to the plays and have more variations. Spencer Ware came in the game at FB, everybody knows he's going to run some kind of wheel route down the side line and we are throwing him the ball. We won't run an option to the wide side of the field. JL comes in we are throwing. JJ comes back in he's running. Trindon H. comes in running in motion through the backfield he's getting the ball around the end.

Most of the blame should be placed on GC and CLM for lack of execution because it's the coaches job to have an effective gameplan, unfortunately, it always took CLM and GC to two weeks or better to have a dominant plan.

I am curious your connection to Jefferson. Your Jefferson = Vick comparison last year was the best thread

so you think Jefferson's play was the reason LSU won 11 games?

If he plays like he did last bowl game or the GT bowl game fans will love him and we will have a SEC title. It is that he is lazy and only plays well when he is pushed as in JL last year and Mett and JL this year, that is what fans don't like about him.

If GC called plays like the did in the two bowl games he will be successful every game.. I found it odd last year.. After the first half of the nc game last yr.. Gc play calling was horrible for jj, but on the other hand I notice the difference in the play calling for JL, quick slants, screen passes that was bullshite!! At the end of the season GC had to open it up and let jj play in order to Bama,Miss and A&m.. new oc seems to be Letting JJ utilize his skills..
