They've only been around since the 70s I believe. Other schools have a bit of a head start on them

I forgot all about Massillon and looked up St. Ignatius - 10 state titles and 3 "national" titles all since 1988. Couldn't find their total wins though.

Fwiw, Massillion has something like 802 wins now, this link is a little outdated.

Going to go ahead and assume that 1. There wasn't shite to do in Ohio back then (not that there is now) and 2. That number is nowhere near accurate.

High school football in Texas is much different now than it used to be...even going back to the 80's.
Inner-city schools are pretty shitty now. Dallas Carter, the school in Friday Night Lights (movie), can pretty much win every game in the city it can, maybe even go undefeated, then get knocked out as soon as they face someone from the suburbs in the playoffs.
It is all dominated by suburban area towns. Plano remains a constant from the earlier days. I know in San Antonio, schools that were once powerhouses, or just damn good teams, are splitting enrollment with new schools that pop up every few years.
Rarely will you see some old, traditional power like Amarillo make noise anymore.
Hell, last year Denton Guyer and Schertz Steele played for a 5A championship, and I think the schools have been playing ball for a combined 5 years or so...if that.
It's kind of sad when I look at the state semis and championships and see unfamiliar names of schools.

It was played at Cleveland Municipal so it's possible.

Massillion Washington is a shell of what it was.
It's a shame.

My aunt's kids go to the elementary school for Guyer. I believe she told me that was Guyer's first year in 5A bc I think they moved up in classification. That's pretty crazy

A team doing well in its first year for a particular classification isn't too rare. Southlake Carroll won a title after moving up from 4a I believe. But Guyer HS itself hasn't existed but for a few years.

Well, they aren't recruiting kids to go there now (it's a public school) and getting parents jobs in town anymore to entice them to move to the district.

Plus Massillion/Canton are dying on the vine.
