I think the animosity is on the side of LSU. I remember the postgame conference when LSU lost to ULL in post season play. Giroud said that she wouldn't answer the question again as to why she won't play ULL during the year. Switch to Lotief, she said she would play anytime, anywhere.

she's a very good player, but that picture isn't her.

i would think that statement is more because ULL had a better team that year and the cajuns were feeling fiesty.
i used to box as an amateur, i used to say the same thing, it's a tactic to show your not scared. i'm not saying either is scared, but when the two teams play, there is animosity, especially in the stands.

You're definitely a ULL fan.

Not that I think there's a chance in hell of LSU going after them, OR them coming here, but Lotief's success is hard to guage vs. LSU's.
Sunbelt isVERY weak in softball.
And they've been to 2 world series I believe, not 3.

Your school chastized her for trying to improve her life by leaving your school. So your school erases all memories of her success there by taking her name off of everything. So you blame her for not wanting to play you in your only noticible sport. Possibly because of your teams arrogance and disrespect towards LSU that she may not want to play your school.

The majority of top players in college softball are still coming from the Arizona/California area. You can find at least one on almost every major roster in America. Keep in mind how late we started with fastpitch, they were decades ahead of us...

Not my school. I just graduated from there. I don't blame her one bit for leaving. Who wouldn't leave for more money? Saben comes to mind. I can see why she is bitter. But i think LSU/UL should play each other every year in all sports.

I agree that they should play.. ULL has nothing to lose vs LSU, just like all other in state schools regardless of sport. I could see where YG would make that scheduling decision b/c of recent struggles againtst ULL.. don't feel like looking it up but I bet the cummaltive score vs LSU over the last 4 or 5 games would be pretty degrading for YG

It's got nothing to do with recent struggles. The issues started from the moment she left(has the plaque reappeared yet?). When they played in a regional with YG as LSU coach fights broke out. I believe her quote about it was "we'll play when it's just about the kids" and I'd imagine the new coach will schedule them.

Stefni Lotief came on board in 2001; hubby Michael was an assistant then and became co-coach in 2003. Since then ULL has appeared in the WCWS in 2003, 2008, and 2010. So that makes three.
No argument Sun Belt is a weak conference but you don't play all Sun Belt teams to get to the WCWS.

They lost to eventual WCWS champions UCLA in the Super Regional. So that does not make 3.

Is Yvette Girouard getting fired or quitting at seasons end?

I got some bad info on 2010. You are right, they only appeared in 2003 and 2008. I stand corrected. But that's as many as the current LSU coach who everyone wants to dump.

Yvette will be doing the color commentating for the radio broadcasts next year. That should be interesting! Not sure it's a good idea....from the new head coach's point of view.
