Folks at the series this weekend said she has applied along with 7-9 other folks. She is apparently at Baylor with another former LSU coach and she is the pitching coach.

I think at the very least she should be brought on as associate head coach and pitching coach. She's done very good things at Baylor.

Sneed is the pitching coach at Baylor with former LSU coach Glen Moore. I don't think she would get the job. I think Alyson Habetz (Alabama assistant) is the lead candidate.

She's with Glenn Moore, who recruited her.

I remember seeing her at the PC on the day they announced Yvette Girouard.

She wasn't sold, and neither did the players with her appear to be. Yvette didn't take the time to meet with them and talk to them beforehand, as I understand it.

She was too busy corraling all of her family into the press conference so they could cheer and whoop and holler.

At least with softball, they let you bring your players with you.

I thought about that also. Think Baylor made it to the WCWS few years ago. No tellin' what direction they go in

Habetz has been an assistant at Alabama for 13 years...she played for Girouard at USL in the mid-90's and is from somewhere around there (Crowley maybe?) She has been a huge part of the success Alabama has had and would probably like a chance to get a head coaching job, esp. one so close to home.
Added bonus: pissing off the ULL people again by taking another one of their "greats"

I hear the Memphis Coach is the real up-and-comer in the Softball World right now.

That's the one that sounds interesting to me. I don't want a long-time assistant. Or a "legend" from a smaller program.

I want someone whose hungry. Hand a hungry, driven, motivated person whose proven themselves in the situations they've been in, and hand her the keys, and tell her "Go build something."

BS wanted the Asst. Coach position a couple of years ago but YG turned her down bc she "wanted to work with pitchers".... how has that worked out?!? For the money YG has been paid and the budget the softball team has, the team has underperformed to say the least. On a side note.... why so many injuries to the players? Seems much more than other teams. Especially in the off-season.

Sneed or Habetz would be second-tier candidates. Program deserves someone with head coaching experience which never have although they have successful resumes

Wrong about Habetz. She has been a huge part of why Alabama has been to 6 CWS. She is the coordinator of offense (we could use help there) and is a big part of their recruiting. I think she has a pretty good idea about what it takes to build a good program. I would take her in a heartbeat. I don't see why people are so hung up about having to have a sitting head coach.

No proven record as a head coach. It's that simple. I want someone who has a proven record as a head coach.

As long as the new coach is married(to a man) or engaged to a man in either softball or basketball, I have no problems.

Seriously we need top notch coaches if we are to become competitive. If we are gonna pay big bucks go for the best.

For women's softball at LSU to reach a championship level caliber they need to bring in someone from the West Coast. They Need someone that can push softball year round within the state. More then coaching, Louisiana softball needs a ambassador for the sport. Till then, West coast will continue to dominate the sport.

Had Cal dropped women's softball as well?

After spending two years fighting the issue in the state courts, Habetz became the first female in the state of Louisiana to play high school baseball, garnering All-District honors as a first baseman and pitcher while earning All-District, All-Parish and All-State honors as a basketball player.

Bama, UGA, and Florida all have coaches who have never worked out west.
