Never made them baked. I just got ahold of a great looking recipe that called for it.
Whats the F&D board opinion on this?

I pan saute mine, but if made properly, I think they could be baked successfully. I've been making these mini shrimp and andouille cakes, lately for parties. I put them in mini muffin pans, pressing them in. They bake well. I've thought about trying crabcakes in a bigger muffin pan or a "muffin tops" pan, for a fun experiment.

My fav is to follow the Old Bay can recipie and broil them (just a few min) with butter and lemon juice.

Only way to do them right IMO. I've deep fried and baked as well, but pan sauteed is the hands down winner.

This is what I have always done. Never even thought about baking until now. Guess I'll stick with my traditions.

I had both baked and fried at my wedding reception. While I didn't get to eat any that night, I did get to try them at my tasting. I thought the baked was just as delicious as the fried.

No! I never believed people when they warned me about this. The venue packed us a fabulous go-box. I didn't get to eat any of that either. We went back to our hotel so I could change before going out in the quarter with some of our guests. A few stopped by and helped themselves to a little midnight snack. Drunk bastards.
