Nikki's West

But you better know what you want or they will start yelling at you!

I second Surin West. The crab angels are a great app. The softshell crab and ka proud lamb are my favorites. Their shrimp fried rice is great.

Jim and Nicks cheese biscuits are addictive as crack but their BBQ is ok.

Rojo is a bar and has excellent quesadillas

Al's BBQ baked potato is EXCELLENT late night drunken food

Cocina Superior is a nice contemporary upscale twist on Mexican food.

La Paz is popular Mexican food.

Sol Azteca was my go-to Mexican joint. The bartender Roberto is cool as shite.

Their is better BBQ than Dreamland in Bham. Uncle Sams and Tin Roof (I think) are 2 I like. Miss Myras behind the Summit isn't bad either.

Fat Sams makes excellent greasy sandwiches and fries.

Silvatron has 1/2 off pasta night w/ HUGE portions. Their hot bacon salad is awesome.

I'd throw in The Fish Market as another decent casual seafood place. I hit up the Hoover location quite often when I lived in the area. Granted, there is no atmosphere in the restaurant itself but the shrimp and scallop fettucine alfredo was awesome. The bread was good and you got like 3 sides with an order. WAY more food than one person could eat for a very reasonable price. Fish Market's dishes are heavily Greek influenced with the owner being a very successful Greek restaurant owner in the area.

P.S. Is the Shipley Donuts location still open off of Lorna Road in Hoover? That place is great.

Definitely. I just suggested that one because it is semi-famous. My favorite is actually on Hwy 79 between Tarrant and Pinson, called Ken's BBQ. A great little hole in the wall place.

ETA: i'm just glad no one has thrown out a crappy Cajun restaurant. Usually people start asking about Cajun restaurants and I always wonder why the hell someone from Louisiana would be interested in eating cajun anywhere else.

ETA again: Sorry about the successive posts. I actually had some work to do today, so I was away fron the droppings for a while.
