Based on the crowd in the parking lot Cracker Barrel appears to be the restaurant of choice for diners in Birmingham.

I travel a ton, and I've not seen many Cracker Barrel lots that weren't full.

Tigah, for some reason Bham gets ragged unmercifully for its chains but the good independent restaurants it DOES have are always overlooked for some reason.

Hot N Hot Fish Club, Veranda on Highland, Cafe DuPont, Ocean, Highlands Bar & Grill, Avo, Bottega, Chez Fon Fon, Chez Lulu, Village Tavern, Satterfields

Ain't that the truth. It just seems that there is one at every other freeway exit on the drive from Baton Rouge to Birmingham, and they're all filled up. It's just hard to pass up an opportunity to toss out a sarcastic answer to an open ended question like this topic's. Especially when there is some semblance of truth in the answer.
