Well I am sort of serious. Seems like hunters now know the exact deer that is there, when it comes out, what its habits are etc... then they just show up and take it...

Unless you're dealing with a high fence operation...it is a little more difficult than just "showing up and taking it".

Yeah, and what is the hunter supposed to do when the deer shows up at 3 am......?

In my experience I have only had does and spikes become predictable enough to actually had a chance to take them like that.

The big ones will show up once or twice on a camera and then we will see them half a mile away the next day

Yeah, it really doesn't work like that. I think they are kind of fun, but I don't kill any more deer because of them.

LOL! Great thread.

Now if only I can turn my game cams into IEDs I might actually get some meat out of it.

I think guns are cheating. Get your arse out there with a bow.

Killed 2 wallhangers over the last 2 years and not a single pic of either one with six cams in the woods

I hear ya. I love my rifles, but there's nothing like the ole stick and string!

Out of all the deer that have gone on the wall in our club the past couple years, we have pics of exactly zero.

Same here for me. Killed a 9pt. I am having mounted on nov. 30 of this past season. Had my camera out at that spot since mid sept. Not one single pic of this deer during 2 and a half months. It was a rather nice surprise to see him though! Cameras don't always show what's going on. Imo I don't think it is cheating. Advantage...yes.

Actually, I think it helps hunters make better decisions in the woods.

For example, there may be an older doe that is perfect for harvesting. Or, there may be a six or eight point that needs to be taken from the herd. A hunter who rarely sees the deer he hunts will not have the proper information to make good decisions. In fact, most hunters (Not OB hunters) shoot whatever they see.

Let me just admit.....I use cameras. However, I can identify every deer that lives in the area that I hunt. I predetermine which deer need to grow and which ones are good for shooting at the time of the hunt. The result is letting many more deer walk and an overall better herd to hunt from in the future.

On the other hand......the people I know who do not use cameras......call me over to look at their monster buck......and it usually embarrassing what they have shot (an eight point 2-year-old). Or a six point they couldn't hold off on.

In the end, there is a solid argument both ways.

Cameras are only a tool used to research on your herd. Planting food plots or putting out feeders is cheating. The only "TRUE" hunting is spot/stalk on a property you've never visited or have knowledge of.

I'm on the high fence about it. (SWIDT)
I own a couple and it is fun checking them, but I miss the days of going out there blind. You never knew what you were going to see, but now I see the deer I've been getting pics of and it's like "oh there he is".
I don't think it's cheating by any means and you guys are right about the big boys not getting caught in patterns but it's still just not as climactic IMO.
I like using em on my fold plot and feeder in the camp yard. Have gotten some nice bucks standing outside my window while I was sleeping.

I'm not a deer hunter and never will be. The cameras that deer hunters use doesn't bother me, its the montage of food/bait that they throw out at deer. Why don't you just go to a farm and harvest a angus bull. Way more meat. Its like killing cows.

Yes and no. I have does and yearlings that show up everyday at the same. It is uncanny how predictable the are. Now the bucks, especially the older ones, you are lucky if they ever show up.

Inform me of why you're here then? I stay out of Kayak threads because I have no knowledge or desire to learn about kayaks.
