I was about to say "my condolences", but then I saw this:

and realized you might be from the only place in the state where moving to Thibodaux would be an upgrade, so congrats!

Fremin's is the only redeeming quality I have found.

Positives: You are less than an hour from NOLA and less than hour from some great fishing.

I am from there and it is a very limited city. Roxs', Renes' and the Red Goose(named after the shoe brand that no longer exists) are popular with the locals. the newest one has been in operation for 30 or so years. The other two operated through prohibition. Flanagans is by Nicholls and is a little more upscale friendly, as is Fremins( in downtown). Due to health issues of family members one of the best little restaurants only operates a handful of nights during the week/weekend Politzs'. The Half Shell produces aome fairly tasty stuff.

Citwitt,
Thanks that at least leads me in the right direction. I'm hoping for a spot to maybe catch some NCAA Basketball tourney. I'll try those out.

Thanks

Bubba's on the Bayou has a sports bar that you can watch the tourney at. The food is terrible there though. I can't really comment on the current bar scene as everything changes all the time (other than last call is pretty trashy). The "laid back" bar used to be The Red Goose but now it's overrun with 18 year olds (at least it was the one time i went out in the past two years).

the food is bad but Bubbas is good to watch a game and have a drink in the bar. Great people that own it too.

Is moving to Houma and working in Thib out of the question?

Does not compute.

To the OP, there aren't really any spots like the one you mention. Bubba's would the closest thing to a sports bar in Thibodaux, but I'd avoid the food if at all possible. You could also try Norm's (I hope you like softball). As you'd expect, options are very limited. My recommendation to you: make some friends out there, or drive somewhere else to watch the game.

there is a wing place there that has big TVs and shows a lot of games. I can't comment on the food. Plus years ago Bubbas II was named one of the best sports bars in America by SI

The owner of Bubba's knew the guy who made that list, so that's why it was best sports bar.

I don't think the food is that bad. Nothing memorable, but better than 99% of bar food you'd get anywhere else in the country.

If I want shitty crawfish with no service, I'll drive to houma and eat at a Chinese buffet. Everything I have tried at Bubba's is average or below, I won't be going back unless it's to drink on the bayou.
