I know I bitch about these should we threads, but this could be an interesting should we

quote:

Colts unlikely to re-sign Addai?

Adam Caplan of Fox Sports says the "chances of the Colts re-signing Joseph Addai are probably much less than 50-50."
Caplan cites the fact that Donald Brown was a first-round pick just two years ago as his prime evidence. Although he's is a respected insider, Caplan's likely under-selling Addai's chances of being back. Brown has yet to prove he can stay healthy or go for over 4.0 yards per carry, and Indy will certainly look to pair him with a veteran back next season. Why wouldn't it be the one that's already been on the roster for five years?

Addai would go very well with Saints style of offense and what Payton likes to do with the runningbacks. I think he's a good get if he doesn't want starter money.

Joe Addai + Pierre Thomas would be a fantastic backfield combo for the Saints.

Why Joe might consider it: he's been to 2 Superbowls, and done well. The path back with the Saints should be easier (beat Atlanta, Green Bay), than with the Colts (beat New England, Jets, Steelers/Ravens). He's from Houston and LSU, so coming back to the Gulf South to close his career on a contender could be a major consideration.

Why the Saints might: as noted, Joe has been to 2 Super Bowls and performed well. He's been in the backfield with Peyton and understood what was going on, so he's smart. I think Brees would love having him back there, as he should be really quick on the audibles and blitz pickups. He's been effective in a platoon situation throughout his career, instead of pouting about playing time. He's a winner with good stats, not a stats guy who might want the rock more than the W.

All very good points.

i dunno how many teams will offer him starter salary with his age + injury concerns

if he wants more than say, $4-5M per, let that foolish team who will pay that salary have him
