Has anyone heard if the AgCenter has offered to help Auburn with their trees? It would be a nice gesture...

One time my dog was sick and the LSU vet school had to send his blood sample to Auburn's vet school for testing. He's alive today .

I've always thought it was super nice of auburn to offer to help my dog

I already heard they've sent some samples to Mississippi State.

Maybe they would consider giving up their 2012 LSU home game and play it in Death Valley?

Dude, there is absolutely no hope whatsoever of saving those trees. Good news is that the Feds are also investigating. I think "Al from Dadeville" is going away for a l-o-n-g time.

They might want to double security at the Bear Bryant museum.

Same thing happened to The Treaty Oak in Austin a few years ago. They were able to save it. Although it sustained severe damage. The good thing is you can now buy little sapplings from the acorns of the Treaty Oak and plant them in your yard. The proceeds go to help maintain the Treaty Oak.

From the wiki article on the Treaty Oak..

"Cullen was convicted of felony criminal mischief and sentenced to serve nine years in prison"

Doesn't say how much time he actually served, but I'd bet Al from Dadeville gets a similar sentence.

On February 16, 2011, Auburn University announced that the 130 year old live oak trees at Toomer’s Corner had been poisoned with a large quantity of Spike 80DF (tebuthiuron), an herbicide governed by State of Alabama agricultural laws and the Environmental Protection Agency; Spike 80DF is not used by Auburn University. Tests of soil samples showed the lowest levels of Spike 80DF to be 0.78ppm, which experts say is enough to be a “very lethal dose.” The highest levels of concentration were measured to be 51ppm. Gary Keever, an Auburn University professor of horticulture and a member of Auburn’s Tree Preservation Committee has said “[Spike 80DF] is extremely active and persistent [and] it’s very likely to be in the soil for 3 to 5 years.”

I would imagine the Texas tree was some kind of designated historic landmark. I hope the fact that these trees aren't a registered landmark will not make this nut's stay in prison shorter.

(I am only assuming the Auburn trees are not registered.)

The only reason Feds are involved is because it's illegal to use herbicide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling, they don't give a rats arse about the tree.

I don't know what the penalty is for improper use, but I doubt it's jail time. Probably a fine and some community service.

I don't know what the penalty is for sure, but as someone with a private applicator license I can tell you that the Feds are going to come down on that guy like a ton of bricks.
