Below are some names of college players that the Saints have been watching, scouted from last season, during the Senior Bowl and will continue to watch throughout the combine.

There are several players other than those listed above like 20.Patrick Peterson CB LSU, 21.Anthony Castonzo OT Boston Colege, 22.Mike Pouncy OG Florida or 23.Mikel Leshoure RB Illinois who will be taken if they are available.
24.Drake Nevis whom i had on my draft board may have hurt his chances of being picked in the first round while sustaining an slight foot injury while training for the combine, he also pulled out of the Senior Bowl late to prevent further damage.
The Saints have several picks in this years draft starting with number 24 in the first round. With all of the talent that this Saints team has, there are very few needs after taking care of their own restricted and unrestricted free agents.
Theres alot of these guys who will be gone by the time we pick at #24 but this gives you an idea of what they have already been looking at.

I like seeing all of those DEs.
I wonder why scout players like Fairley or Peterson who are expected to go quickly. Is it just in case something comes up between now and the draft that might cause them to fall or is it just so they don't have any blank spaces on their board?

I'd love to see 'em get a real pass rusher @ DE. I think that would do a lot to keep so much responsibility off of our OLB.

My guess is that you have to be prepared in case the unexpected happens.
IIRC, Green Bay was caught completely flat-footed when Aaron Rodgers fell to them late in the 1st and took him without having done a full workup on him beforehand.

I don't understand the point of saying this is who the saints are looking at.
It's a 7 round draft with hundreds of players. Saints will look at those 24 guys and every other player at the combine and prodays.
It's not like the Saints will only scout for the 1st round and use Athlon or Lindseys magazines for the rest of the draft.

But alot of those guys that you get late in the draft are not at the combine.

Ingram? If Leshoure jumps him he would look pretty good in black and gold. I know it's unlikely.

I looked at this post a couple of times trying to make sense of it. It appears to be just another dude at whodatdiah.com like anyone of us. I mean how can anyone with any draft knowledge at all say of-
Fairley: has loads of talent, and will fit perfectly into New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Greg Williams preferred defensive style.
Bowers- The Saints are looking at upgrading their pass rush and it’s a major priority for Coach Sean Payton. Bowers would be a possibility if available
Von Miller- Bowers would be a good choice here.
Dareus- Saints defensive coordinator Greg Williams could use a disruptive force like Dareus to fit his 4-3 scheme.
CB Jimmy Smith- The Saints need dept at corner-back, and may be willing to be patient as they coach a talent like Smith.
Kerrigan- There’s a very good chance that Kerrigan will be long gone by the middle of the first round, but this would be an absolutely ideal situation for the Saints
Aldon Smith- New Orleans is still one of the NFL’s top elite pass rushing teams. But with every offense double teaming Will Smith, he will need a complement to keep offenses honest, and Smith may not provide an answer immediately, but he’s a phenomenal athlete that should transition well to outside linebacker.
Houston, Justin – DE from Georgia
The Saints need to be able to put pressure on the quarterbacks to stay successful and Houston could start opposite of Will Smith
There's just too much fail here to cover. To even dream Bowers could be available at 24, to call us an elite pass rushing team, to mistake the positions of Smith and Houston... I think there's more insightful draft thoughts in threads here than this.

If this guy could tell us which players the Saints aren't going to look at and write off as prospects just on name alone that would more impressive IMO
