I am not a huge NFL guy because I prefer college. What shocks me is that the fans are sitting on the side while the negotiations go on. Fans can stop this lockout but they must unite and attack the owners. If all season ticket holders of each franchise would take the time to write the franchise and promise the owners that if a lockout occurs, they will not buy another ticket for 5 years. It would also help if anyone else who has bought a ticket in the last 5 years did this also.

Most owners know that 50% probably will not follow through after the first few games, but this would still hit their pockets really hard for a few years. As long as the owners have no threats from the fans, they are in complete control. Fans need to make the point that the NFL will suffer from the lockout just like the NHL did

You assume that everyone would 100percent support the players. While I'm sure that players UNION has it's valid points. I also recognize that unions can negotiate such a good deal that it can hurt the product. See GM for example.

I will wait and see before I start jumping up and down.

They would say, goodbye while dialing the number of who's next on the wait list.
Those tickets would be sold

half of the saints ticket holders can barely say the name of the players, much less write a letter.

I think that you're heading in the right direction, and you're almost there. It's not the season ticket holders who need to rebel, however. It's the state and local governments who need to start talking about lost revenue. It's the restaurant, bar, and hotel owners who need to start applying pressure on the league. It's the people who work in the stadium and depend on that revenue to make ends meet who need to start making noise.

The lockout will happen if and only if the owners allow it to, and all the above mentioned (and more, when you think about how many municipalities are already cash strapped WITHOUT major tax revenue cut off by the lockout) will suffer with a lockout.

The owners are sociopaths. That needs to be the message here.
