FB Season tickets - Automatically converted to TAF, how?

I just got my tradition fund email/invoice from LSU and it says my tickets were "converted to TAF" and I would now get an invoice from them.
How can they force me to the TAF? and aren't the TAF surcharges higher?

Did you change locations? I don't believe there's a situation where the same section of the stadium is controlled by both TAF and the AD.

I got mine as well this afternoon and there is nothing about TAF fees other than "All TAF contributions are billed separately and due March 31,2011"

Got a reply from LSU.. apparently they are trying to "consolidate" TAFs holdings and have converted some tickets on the East to "Taf" tickets.. I was assured it it just a technicality and prices will always remain = to Tradition fund prices and that all requests for transfers would be handled the same way.. just a bit leery of being forced to deal with the TAF when I have always gone directly through LSU .. but there was no choice or option to opt out and remain on the Tradition Fund program

I have always been leery of TAF.

I've been in the East Upper since 2002, and have always dealt with TAF. No problems here, and we've upgraded our seats once in that timeframe as well. I'm sure there's some horror stories out there but I've been fortunate.

I had some tickets in EU through TAF upgraded last year to SEZ and had to switch to tradition fund. Doesn't make a difference.

Thats good to know.. that was my biggest concern, being locked in to Taf seats on any transfer options (in my case I will most likely downgrade to endzone seats one day, since the sidelines have more than doubled in the last 6 years)

Eventually TAF will be in control of ALL tickets. Trust me.

Unfortunately Doc, it is ALL about the $.

TAF will never control all the tickets...it would be against state laws.

this....
of course, they already pretty much control any changes like upgrades, new tickets, etc., so it shouldn't really be much of a deal...

Not real sure what your point is.
My tickets have never been part of TAF and been in the family constantly for over 50 years.. and now all of a sudden to keep them I have to pay someone other than LSU.. just kind of strange.. I can no longer log in to lsutix.net and buy my tickets.. they have forced me to go through TAF which I really dont agree with, but I have no choice (other than not buying tickets)

It really doesn't matter what you agree with and you should be happy it's going directly to TAF and not LSU because it's less likely to be taken from the university when they have budget shortfalls. I'm not sure if that's why they're doing it or if going through TAF prevents the university from taking it but it would be my guess.

+1
My grandfather was an LSU alum who first bought season tickets in 1955 for Dietzel's first year as coach.
The very existence of TAF has always been disturbing to me. It's never a good thing when a private entity gets dumped on top of a public entity in order to control the money to do what a public entity could not.
I understand the fund raising problems that come with being a public institution under current Louisiana laws, but this kind of hybrid public-private monster rarely ends well in the long term.

fellas it is no coincidence that once TAF got involved we started winnig rings. Money now drives the bus
would yall really rather go back to losing seasons to not have to deal with TAF?
