Was Gray impressive or Lopez disappointing?

Maybe it's Avery but Lopez is looking pretty overrated this season. He may put up some nice numbers but he's not nearly the dominant force he was being billed as when everyone was ready to trade CP3 for him. He can score and that's about it.
With that in mind, Gray looked almost adequate for a backup big last night. Is that because Brooks isn't very good or Gray is getting better?

Gray sucks. He's so unathletic. I don't know where you get the idea that he can score the ball. When have you seen him step out and hit a jumper? He's not a defensive stopper either.
Lopez should've killed Gray in the post last night. I have no idea why Lopez stepped out of the post so much last night.

Gray was working to keep him out of the post and like I said, at least the 2 times I've seen him against the Hornets this season Lopez looks like he was pretty overrated. And overrated makes sense for him since his twin isn't really a stud either. I mean they're twins, it'd be crazy to have one be a top 5 center while the other was below average.

Reread what I wrote. I was talking about Lopez being able to score but that seeming to be his only skill this season. He's only averaging 5.6 boards which is pathetic for a starting center.
my bad

Lopez is a 7'0 C that plays like Dirk. He doesn't post or bang that often. He prefers to play 8 ft and out.
That being said, Lopez came through last night and Gray played some pathetic D on him at the end of the game with an obvious foul.
Still, not too impressed by Lopez. Kris Humphries was the far superior rebounder last night

Gray if actually fine for his role. A backup big who can contribute a few minutes, grab a couple of boards, etc. What the frick do you expect?

If that's the requirement to be in the league for a back up big, then why the hell am I sitting here typing on tigerdroppings.

Then the team is healthy, the dude is like 11th or 12th man. Not that unusual. And he has had some good games.

Lopez was disappointing IMO. He doesn't play like you would think a 7' 265lbs Center would play. I think his stats are somewhat inflated since he plays on such a bad team.
I think he is a good player, but I don't expect him to be the next great center as some were saying after last season.

Gray has been impressive since coming back from that ankle injury. His rebounding has been solid, and he's even provided some adequate scoring. His defense is still sub-par, and he's pretty bad at setting screens, but I think he's looked like a decent rotation big so far and probably the best one on our bench.

I think he's unintentionally awesome at setting screens. Yeah he never gets set, but if you're able to turn the corner you have a step on your defender.

He's somewhat effective because of his sheer size, but he could get called for moving a lot. The fact that he can be effective despite bad technique is heartening though. If he works at it, he could set some absolute bone-crushers.

Brook Lopez was terrified of going inside on Gray. He shied away from rebounds, faded away on all of his shots, he posted Gray up a total of 3 times.

Yeah I know. But he ran away from Aaron Gray ferocity

He's untradeable though when theyre trying to deal for Chris Paul or Carmelo

Aaron Gray is slow as shite. After saying that I think I still prefer him over Mbenga/sloth. Let's hope we see a repeat of last year's performance against Orlando. I was going crazy watching that game

Aaron Gray has shown flashes of being a solid bench C at times. If he can drop a few more pounds this offseason and gain a little more quickness he may be a pretty good backup.

He's starting to look a bit quicker. It may well take another year of conditioning work, but I agree that he can become a passable backup.
