Fact

TJ has had 3 good coaching years.

2003-04- Had two future NBA players (Fazekas and Kirk Snyder)

2007-08- Had the Lopez Twins for goodness sake

2008-09- Had 3 NBA players, Marcus Thornton/Chris Johnson/Garrett Temple

All other years of his coaching career:

127-138

But if you just watch the team play, you can tell he can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Nevada Sweet 16 is one

Stanford making the Tounrnament 3 of 4 years makes 4

LSU going to the Tournament in Trent's 1st year makes 5

So it's 5 years not 3.

CJ has played a grand total of 2 NBA games with 16 minutes and 4 whole points....he's also back down in the d-league so I wouldn't exactly call him an NBA player....that's reaching

The only fact about TJ is that he will recruit 4 year players and not take many chances on guys that Brady did.

Aside from that, he knows more about coaching than anyone on the Rant. I am disappointed with him, but it's not like he's not trying. Let's give him next season. We gave Brady 11. If we do fire Trent, I doubt Ben Howland is about to leave UCLA, nor is Bob Knight coming off of ESPN. If we do axe Trent, we're going to get the same calibur of coach - semi-proven with a method that is very strange to us. Most of us have only seen three LSU coaches since we've been alive. I don't think any of us know who the rigtht fit at LSU even is.

Sounds like Trent is a pretty good recruiter, even though a bunch of you claim he isnt

Who are the Lopez Twins? I never heard of them. Unless they are a couple of 5 star linebackers who cares?

So the coach does well when he has good players and doesn't do well when he has shitty players?

Interesting.

If you count summer league guys and 10 day guys then he's probably had a ton more in the years you've mentioned. There is only 1 legitimate NBA player from the 08/09 season, and the other two wouldn't have gotten as far as they without him.

Now prepare the same sort of analysis of John Brady's coaching career. It will look even uglier. Brady had success when he had NBA Top 5 draft picks on his roster. He sucked when he had NBA players on the roster who got drafted later than that. Let's give Johnson time to see if he can recruit some NBA caliber players. It's not like the state of Louisiana has been spitting them out the last few years like it was during Brady's tenure.

OMG, coaches with good players have good years?!?!

Roy Williams was only good when he had Paul Pierce, Kirk Hinrich, Drew Gooden, Jacque Vaughn, Raef LaFrentz, Greg Ostertag, Scot Pollard, Sean May, Rashad McCants, and Raymond Felton, Brandan Wright, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Marvin Williams, Deon Thompson and Tyler Hansbrough. And don't get me started on Jim Boeheim and Tom Izzo!
