LSU basketball fans what are your thoughts about your program?

I went this Saturday to the Mississippi State/LSU game in Baton Rouge at the PMAC, and was kinda shocked at how low the attendence was. I have gone in the past and the low attendence has been blamed on Mardi Gras, but there is no Mardi Gras parades going on right now (that I am aware of).
We (MSU) were lucky to get the win, but my question is what do you guys think about the state of the basketball program at LSU? It seems that Trent Johnson is a good coach who is trying to run a good program, but he just lack SEC caliber talent right now.
A lot of Mississippi State fans are furious over the direction of our program, with the Sidney fight in the stands this year, and other off the court issues. Many are calling for Rick Stansbury to resign or be fired at the end of the season. I try telling them its not as bad as they make it out to be.
How long is the AD going to give Johnson to get things turned around in Baton Rouge?

Johnson's got at least one more year....
This year is just bad!
Attendance has always sucked unless they got ranked in Top 20.

LSU should make the change after next season if things don't improve.

We've got to get better, because we can't possibly get worse?

Do basketball fans believe that LSU's program is in better shape now than it was before John Brady was fired?

not true. In the 80's the place could rock, even when we were not in the top 20. For years, if you walked into the stadium, the first thing you heard was a nonstop "tiger bait tiger bait tiger bait tiger bait" from one guy who would yell for ?10 min before the game.
Even in the "down" years, at that time, there might be up to 10-15% empty seats, but nothing like this.
Its a slow death. Apathy is king now, but the P-mack will be back. (Then, I'll be sorry for giving up my tickets after this year.)
As much as it pains me to admit it, Dale Brown was a greater showman than Skip- too bad he couldnt win the title once or twice.

Meh.
I believe it WILL be.
With Brady, you always had to hope he would sign 13 players each year, because 6 of them would leave the program by December.
People gave up on Brady because he was an insufferable arse. He tried to be Bobby Knight, without the coaching talent.
Going out of his way to piss all over Pistol Pete's son, when he was a walk-on, probably didn't help his cause much, either.

I think we're really really bad and am just hoping thats not the case next year. I felt the same last season as well.

well, its hard to imagine LSU letting Johnson go this year. I hear all of this stuff about "he needs another year, etc." That's all fine and good but this team shows no improvement. That last :07 Saturday was awful.
The attendance is just awful. High schools in Kentucky and Indiana probably double our attendance.

Going from getting blown out by 20 plus in 4 straight games to actually playing for something in the final minute isn't improvement?

Losing isn't good, but losing by 1, with the ball in your hands (sort of) in the final possession is sure as shite better than losing by 38.

I wasn't upset with the loss just how the last minute or so was handled...mostly the last 7 seconds coming out of a timeout.

MSU is a bad basketball team and their leading scorer was suspended for the game. I don't think keeping it close is anything to brag about given the circumstances.

no one is bragging, we kept it a game, and we prob would've kept it a game with him playing, and thats what most people were saying a week ago, "if only we would compete"

At least one more year. Already won the SEC and COTY. He has two instant big-men starters coming in next fall plus another very good wing player, no seniors on the current team and has had a pretty tough injury bug this season while starting 3 true freshmen. I think Stansbury is a very good coach btw. Hope he stays in Starkville.

Looking at MSU, I can't figure out why they're so bad.
Even with fat-arse walking up and down the court, it looked like there was plenty of talent.

Pretty much answers your question. This team is just terrible. Trent needs to turn it around next year.
