It doesn't stand for Green Bay.

I certainly don't feel stupid for not knowing that considering no Packer interviewed knew it.

That's pretty pathetic.

I mean in their defense I'm sure none of them grew up in Wisconsin and it's still the first letter of the city name. I would assume that they all assume it was for Green Bay.

In there defense if you asked the average person walking in Dallas wearing GB shite, good % of them probably wouldn't know either

I think this is more of a "which came first: the chicken or the egg". Graphic designers often invent back stories to sell their logos/designs to clients.
It would be naive to think it doesn't stand for both.
If they played out of Madison would their logo still be a G...no. It would probably be an M for Massive Meatheads Munching on Mozzarella or some other b.s.

This is actually one of those useless facts that I've been knowing for a while.

The origin and history of Steelers logo is even more complex. I'm sure there's plenty of fans, players and coaches that don't know it as well. At least as a fan I think it's very important to know things like this...at least one has some cred and doesn't come off as some bandwagon fan for the moment.

It's not complex at all actually.
