What true Freshmans do you feel will break into the 2 deep depth chart by the Oregon game. I knwo last year alot of ture fesh hit the field.
So if no one gets hurt which we know will happen. What players can get into the rotations.
Landry
Mett
Freak
Collins
are the usual suspects but do you guys see anyone else making a helluva push for PT.

I am thinking that maybe the kicker that we have committed could make it to the two deep.

I'd like to see Freak start on the line from day one...then dominate for the next three years.

Could see some short yardage carries for Hilliard. Not 2-deep overall, but situational contributor.

If Hatcher gets moved to LB and we have some attrition in the secondary, I could see a DB getting PT as much as we use DBs.
Jenkins, Eugene, or Lewis maybe.

Hard to predict
Some of the 5* and higher rated recruits don't come in and set the world on fire right away
There will be 2 or 3 less heralded guys that contribute right away that no one thought would
LSU's recruiting on this class was done last summer
LSU has been targeting jrs these last few weeks for 2012 more than anything else

How many place kickers will we have next year?
Posted on 2/23/11 at 3:22 pm to Tiger Phanatick
I hate to say it but I could see Landry being held out next year. So many guys ahead of him with a similar skill set. I know he's a beast and will see time soon enough but I wouldn't be surprised to see him RS.
Mett definitely plays.
Freak and Le'el I think will play but depends on the kind of Spring's they have. I know Freak is there for spring ball, is la'el?

I lost count, but we have one with one arm.
He is a pretty good Kicker too.

Not gonna happen. Landry will play early and often.

As someone stated earlier, I can absolutely see Hilliard getting all short yardage/goal line carries this season. Maybe not to start the year, but mid way through and on.
I say Micah Eugene will not be 2-deep, but will be on special teams and be a mack truck doing so. (If he qualifies)

Freak is a lock for two deep, has a chance to start
Jarvis, is a lock for two deep and should start
Mett is a lock for two deep and will battle for start
Hillard, is our top "big back" so he should get some carries
LaEl, is a lock for two deep has a chance to start
OBJ I think might redshirt, but could play special teams or db
Rasco, should be in the 2 deep
D Jenkins, I think plays Sp teams and backs up Mo
Jonah Austin, redshirt
Jalen Collins, redshirt, needs to add some bulk
Micah Eugene, backs up TRex
Hairston backs up or starts
Mickey Johnson, two deep or redshirt
Alonzo Lewis, redshirt
Ronald Martin, redshirt
Terrance Magee, Special teams , and gets some reps at rb
Trevon Randle, lock for two deep
Stephen Rivers redshirt
Corey White, redshirt
Trai Turner, redshirt
Quentin Thomas, redshirt
Paul Turner, redshirt

I thought Mett had three to play three?

I guess MY BOY Blue must have quit the team. Everyone has Ware and Ford ahead of him at TB and now Hillard is going to take his short yardage carries. Its funny that everyone forgets that Blue saw the field before any of these other guys. It was an injury that sidelined him not his ability.

"Jarvis, is a lock for two deep and should start"
I disagree. And not so much knocking his ability but I'm still excited about the guys we got in 2010, esp Boone and Arm Williams. Jarrett Fobbs and James Wright will have something to say about it too.
I think the biggest factor will be Russell Sheppard and his role. Him and Jarvis have very similar skill sets so I could see RS taking over the slot.
I CANNOT wait to see what Krags and Mett bring to this offense. It will determine so much.

I did not forget about Blue, but I was unaware that it was an injury that sidelined him.
However, as well as Blue might have played, Hilliard is much more of that type of back then what Blue is. Blue is 6'2", which is a bit too high for someone to get low for leverage in these types of situations. Hilliard on the other hand is 5'11". As far as weight goes, it isn't even close. Blue checks in at 205ish, where Hilliard is at 225. This, and Hilliard has not even hit the LSU weightroom yet.
There are only about 3 guys in the NFL with that height and are good at goaline situations. All of which are at 225+. They are the execption. Blue seems to be in the same build as McFadden.
Granted, I know absolutely nothing about what the coaches think and how they will handle the situation. This is only my opinion.

I was told that blue started because ware and ford weren't picking up the blocking scheme earlier in the year.
I heard nothing baout an injury from blue.
I like blue and think the three should rotate.ware has good enough hands to be in on passing downs.
Personally i would like to see Magee or Hilliard redshirts or both.
I hope that Jarvis sees the field but if he redshirts i will happy about that as well.
In hindsight i wish Terrance rollover had redshirted.

Jarvis will not see much PT..Krags offense is usually a 3 WR set with a TE, and sometimes a 2 WR set with 2 TEs..I guess that depends on how well our O-line performs in the spring.
Shep will be in the slot, with Randle and Boone on the outsides. Its hard to keep a talent like Jarvis off the field, but it would be better for all parties if he would just Redshirt.
