A Tulsa fan's perspective on Steve Kragthorpe (GOOD Hire)

Found this from Espn's article's comments, LINK

I am very jealous...as a Tulsa fan I watched Coach K bring a horrible football program out of the dirt (that was about to get closed down at the smallest div 1 school in the country) and make it a top 20 team, winning repeated bowl games, win Conference USA and beating big 12 and sec teams in some recruits. The guy is a stud. He not only is an offensive genius, he is an very good recruiter, passionate, but also a true gentleman (which translates huge with recruiting). Disregard the Louisville talk, believe me, what happened there was not his doing. He will win another national championship at LSU, and the Tiger fans will be thrilled with this hire, just wait....I am still angry Tulsa did not rehire him after Graham went to Pitt. The guy is the real deal and you will be very, very pleased.

Eh mixed feelings on this....theirs probably not a single OC in the SEC that wouldnt thrive in the conference USA after a year or two.
This is the only thing that worries me about him....Hes played in some weak conferences besides the big 12......that first real sec matchup, he could be like Holy *$#@ these guys are fast

1998 Texas A&M OC #91
1999 Texas A&M OC #58
2000 Texas A&M OC #49
2003 Tulsa HC #51
2004 Tulsa HC #73
2005 Tulsa HC #39

2007 Louisville HC #6
2008 Louisville HC #45
2009 Louisville HC #91
If he can get us into the 30's like he's shown he can do, then LSU will be very tough to beat. These numbers just don't impress me very much, but I do like how he seems to improve the longer he is at somewhere. Problem is we need him to improve the offense dramatically in year one. Guess we'll see.

Total Offense can be misleading...he was in top 30 at conference USA and big east......Defenses are not even close to SEC

1) I hate "total offense" stats, too
2) But, neither is the offensive talent.

He'll be fine. It's not like he's alone on the job. Miles will always be associated with everything on the offensive side of the ball anyway.

Are they describing Les Miles?
and a fan bases divided over their opinion of him (Tulsa, Louisville).

Yeah, those NFL players have nothing on the SEC

Define dramatically. We won 9 games being in the bottom ten and 11 games being in the bottom 20 in total offense. Won't take much to be better than that, and that in turn will make our stellar defense that much better (less time on the field, less pressure to hold the other offense scoreless).

If they want to make it through the tough schedule with 0 or 1 losses, then I believe the offense will need to be at best 40th or better.
If it's not, there's gonna be a game or two mixed in there where the offense won't have enough to win it for us and that's all that would be needed to ruin any national championship hopes
So if he can get us from 81st(last year) to at least 40th which would mean us averaging 400 yards/game when we averaged 343 last year, I like our chances. Anything above and I think we have two losses along the way

Bowl game totally skewed this number didn't it?

Yes but neither are the offenses.

Half of the top offenses are shitty teams that are on offense a lot. I'll take situational play calling. LSU historically strives on defense.
