If Les Miles bumps up one of his current offensive coaches (or two of them) OR hires an unproven OC with the punchline being that he's going to run a "Les Miles" offense (aka not have complete control over the offense), how will you feel?

Whether or not it works out, how do you feel about this sort of gamble with this sort of season ahead?

I was excited about a new OC, because I know that a new OC would force personnel changes IF THEY WERE NECESSARY. Someone with no favorites etc, that would come in and implement their system and chose their players... but now that might not happen if Les goes a different route with the offense. I'm honestly worried about this, but am I the only one?

If it's BG then I won't really have a problem with it.

I would think that Les has a better handle on where he wants the program to go and who might be better equipped to handle that than a bunch of stupid fans. Stick to tailgating and getting drunk.

statistics probably show that whomever comes in will quickly choose their favorites based on criteria that many (most) fans won't agree with. so I wouldn't get too worked up.

I am not worried at all. This is Les's baby now. I am gonna at least give whoever he hires a fair shot. Les is gonna be here whether it works out or not for years to come. I am sort of resigned that regardless of the results of this hire Les isn't going anywhere. He will get enough talent to win 8 plus games a year even with no offense.

Again, I think that the OC will be a 'yes man', so I won't put a lot of stock in an established offensive guy vs. a young and upcoming offensive guy. I'm just hoping that Les doesn't clash w/ him like he seemed to do w/ Crowton. Bottom line is even with the HC and OC clashing, and terrible QB play, the Tigers somehow went 10-2. I can only hope for some of the same results in the future.

Im willing to give Mr Coach Miles benefit of the doubt with all decisions. He fricked up with the co-DC issue and he corrected it. He is now in the process of corrected the Crowton issue. Things take a bit of time and I trust he'll get it right.

No problem as long as he hires a quarterback coach

I think that the wording of this thread is interesting and telling.

Attempts? Isn't Les Miles the head coach? Isn't it his job to hire or promote whomever he chooses? If he decides to promote from within what is to stop him? The OP?
I think that the OP has a hugely over inflated opinion of himself, his football knowlege and his authority.
That seems to be a pretty common negative poster trait.

whether it works or not, at this timetag, it will be deemed a loss opportunity. There is an opportunity to get someone who is not an experiment and who is highly-touted and who is beyond reproach. The Co-DC and Crowton experiments were never deemed as beyond reproach, and they are both considered failed decisions.
