run to set up pass, or pass to set up the run? (Fuente)

Miles certainly has shown us he is of the former, with his Michigan roots and all. Here is a quote from Fuente, which seems to mesh very well with Miles' philosophy, and actually Saban's also for that matter.
Fuente: "I personally as a football coach understand how much easier it is to throw the ball well if you can run it." - AND-
" We’re going to run the football. When we’re able to run the football it is easier to throw the football."
If this guys interviews well and he and Miles have good rapport, this could very well be our man.
I am a but concerned that he will only stay 3 or 4 years since he is young and will want at some time to step up to HC, but it is worth the risk, as it is worth the risk that he only has "co-OC" status now, because he sounds like he just would fit us well.

I'll take a new OC every 3-4 yrs if he leaves for a HC gig or via success not failure. Im willing to give any of these guys a chance...

Oklahoma, for one, shows that a consistently winning program can attract top level coordinators to replace those that move on.

if you want to lead a top notch organization you must hire top notch people. develop them and yes, they will need to move up and out but the alternative is to hire people that won't leave but arent' top notch. they are basically "yes" men. it killed chollie mac and killed bobby bowden, etc. personally, i don't think 34 is that young; fuente is just beginning to enter the most productive years of his life. i say hire him.

It really does not matter much, as long as there is a balance to play calling... having said that, the "surprise" play (which is what's being setup) that is likely to get the most yards is the pass, so I would vote for "run to set up the pass".
Also, when the game is starting and the "jitters" still exist, the run is a safer play.
on the other hand, a good surprise run, demoralizes the opponent and gets them off the receiver's back..this is why I say that in a lot of ways..it does not matter much as long as there is balance.

+1
to not hire him because of the 3-4 year limit "possibility", shows me that someone has never run a business...at least not well.
there are no guarantees of time WITH ANY HIRE.
Also, the more assistants that move up the more favorable LSU assistant jobs will be viewed.

Agreed. Talent on the sidelines and in the coaches box upstairs is every bit as important as that on the field. If no one ever wants to steal your guys they probably aren't producing top shelf results. Les proved he adheres to this concept by bringing in guys like Gonzo and Frank, knowing full-well they will eventually be courted by other programs.

Oh i agree. Saying I am a "bit" concerned is certainly not a show stopper in any way, shape or form.
I say hire him and hope he stays closer to 7 years than to 3.
