Faulk or Collins? Does Hurst slide over and take that spot? Obviously this will not be solidified until Fall camp, but any idea who the frontrunner is at this point?

I think Faulk would start there and may depend on how fast Collins adjusts to the college level.
Could have JD outside and have a player like E. Washington take over the LG spot.
Don't really see Hurst as a LT but I guess he could, then Faulk or Shaw could play RT.
Nice to have some better depth on the OL

I think it's Shaw vs. Faulk.

Very well put. I really like Washington at guard for some reason. Also, I wouldn't mind Collins redshirting. Not saying he has to redshirt, but we don't need him to play, so why not let him get bigger and stronger and learn the offense.

You play to your strengths..... If we are a run first, play action pass offense....
Who is your LT? What are the real goals? You tryin to play your cards right for the next few years? Or go all in for 2011?
Who will be the strongest? Who can get the lowest? Who do you really trust?
I sayid Mett starts, Collins starts. If Mett rides the bench, so does Collins

It's all about potential and philosophy.

I don't think they're related. Mett has already been in college 2 yrs, has had some time to mature and he's gonna be here in the spring to compete for the job vs a shitty starter.
Collins won't be here til fall and will have to beat out a guy who's been groomed for 2 yrs. a talented guy who was everyone's next 4 yr starter at LT just a little while ago.

this lineup would not surprise me
Josh D at LT
Will B. at LG
P.J. L. at C
Alex H. at RG
La'El C. at RT

If experience > talent then Collins is a RS and Mett is a backup
if talent > experience then both mett and Collins start vs Oregon

Regarless we need a now OL coach

At the beginning of the year, I was absolutely sure that Collins would come in and start as a true freshmen.
However, during the course of the year, Shaw and Faulk developed really nicely. I would expect the experienced guys to start the season, but it may be only a matter of time before the Man/Boy that is Collins becomes LSU's LT for good.

You are assuming that Collins is better than everyone we already have. Physical maturaty and age mean a lot in the trenches. Faulk and Hurst are going to be stronger and more addept to what coach stud and Miles want out of an offensive lineman. It has nothing to do with Mett who has 3TP3. He will not sit. He may not start, but he can't be redshirted.

Assuming, having an opinion... What's the difference?
There will be a fan split next year between who the qb should be.... All opinion
I think Collins is
more talented than any olineman on roster currently.. Just opinion.... How to compare? Final draft status in several years maybe.
Experience can outweight talent.
Talent can outweight experience.
Either way, we're stacked

Not much

I respect the opinion, but just because Collins is a five star this year doesn't mean Hurst and Faulk were bad recruits. Plus they are older and physically more mature with more experience which goes a long way with offensive lineman.

I think that's the difference we have. I don't care who will be better. I care who is better now and this coming up year. Collins could be a top five pick, but I'd take Barksdale who is bigger and better right now.

Agreed, we'll just have to sit back and trust the coaches make the right decision and see what happens.

Like that's going to happen. Nice concept though.

All I'm sayin is if T-Bob can getin there, I'll bet the bank Collins could.
I do think we agree on something Sun, we both want the best player to play next year.
