Crowton wasn't the problem

Gary Crowton always called a decent game, in my opinion---but he was limited by the quarterback's inability to execute the offense.
The real problems that need to be addressed are the quarterback and the offensive line. The team needs a good developer of quarterbacks, and better technique is needed in the offensive line (on a consistent basis).
Crowton could make offensive adjustments, but they didn't show because of the lack of execution.
We might also want to look at the wide receivers coach---I noticed a difficulty of our receivers getting open at times.

He wasn't the answer either.

It was his job to coach the QBs. He didn't. He was the problem

I thought he was the QB Coach and the OC. SO if that is true how was he not the problem?

so who is exactly are you pinning JJs regression on then since its not Crowton?

Crowton was part of the problem not all of it but hey he is the OC and our offense was not in synch for 3 years.

Then why the frick did he admit to trying to run 4 WRs on the field with 9 seconds left against UT? That was all on Crowton. That's when Miles got pissed and called the Ridley pitch without the headphones on.

While I agree on some of your comments about poor QB, OL was not a problem in 2010.
Also, a coach develops his talent or adjusts to the strengths of his players. Crowton could do neither.
I am greatful for his contribution to the 2007 NC. But it is time for him to move on and both LSU and GC will be better as a result.

I'm still waiting for RS to attempt a pass. Guess he used that page out of the secret playbook for toilet paper. Glad he kept the short side option page.

that thing located between his ears. no one can really help that. JJ will never be an SEC caliber qb.

You are right if his duties included developing the quarterbacks.
But from an Offensive Coordinator's perspective, he did a good job in my opinion. We just need to get a better quarterback coach.

BS. I usually had the feeling that he was flipping coins and shaking the magic 8 ball to help decide which plays to call. You had stuff that would be clearly working in the first quarter, but he wouldn't call it again for at least two games.
You had formations, etc that alot of people's wives could predict what play was going to be one.
Don't get me started on the option to the short side of the field.
And yes, I admit the qb situation was a problem, but it was not the biggest problem.

Loved the formation of Holliday lining up out wide in 5WR sets. Especially when our QB has trouble hitting 6'5 WRs. But let's put a 5'5 WR on the field split him out wide 15 yards away from the QB and then send him out on a route. Genius

while some of gcs plays were very innovative, he called a terrible game in my opinion. if im sitting in the stands and know what play is coming next, dont you think the dc on the other team knows whats coming? example, whats coming if rs goes in motion from the slot?

you might say crowton wasn't the problem but he damn sure wasn't the answer. He should have developed the quarterback or developed a game plan to fit the quarterback. ranking in the hundreds in total offense leads anyone to believe it was a time for change
