Billy G as OC

Gonzo left Florida, presumably in part, because he wasnt considered for the vacant OC position.
Do you think Miles brought him on board with the idea of being the heir apparent once Crowton leaves?
Miles has shown that he likes to hire from within.

Wasn't it Crowton that went out and got BG?

I think it was Miles, but im not 100% on that.
Miles named him "passing game coordinator" or something like that.
I remember thinking that he was brought in to potentially be CG's replacement down the road.

I could get on board with this mainly b/c he's not Gary Crowton. Literally, anyone would be better.

supposedly he had alot of input for the cotton bowl and look at those results. JJ being more accurate and the o-line giving good protection also helped. Can't be worse than GC. deserves a chance.

BG as OC and Kragthorpe as co-OC and qb coach, I could go with this.

Honestly, I think Billy deserves a shot. I am sure this situation was mentioned to him when he came here. I think the offense looked more organized and crisp with Billy G here. Now, the playcalling still sucked donkeys, but I guess that was probably Crowton/Miles. BG wouldn't be my first choice (Steve Logan) but he would still be an upgrade to Crowton.

OK. I'm all for giving someone a shot and promoting from within. But, how many drop passes did we have this year on catchable balls? Isn't he still the wide receiver coach. Where is to attention to detail? Most people that have a month to prepare, do well in game planning. Just saying....

BG has never been an OC. I think LSU should hire someone who is proven as an OC. The offense, and recievers, got worse this year.

would like to see a proven OC. LSU is not the place for first time OC's.
Billy G will be Miles' puppet.

he's been primarily in Urban's spread offense the past 10 yrs, I thought everyone was clamoring for pro style.

Most might be. Either way, we have the talent in place to go either way.
The real question is, do we pick a specific style and attempt to perfect it (ie Stanford) pro style power running with solid play action. Or do we do a little bit of everything really well. (Auburn) power run from the spread with some zone reads, option, solid passing game.
I like the approach Auburn took, but we need the right qb to execute it

LSU has more depth in the talent area than Texas AM. Both teams played well, but LSU's defense took over the game and was able to shut AM down for the most part. AM also had a young Qb.
The execution of fundamentals and the athleticism was missing this year from the WR's.

Other than the one time Co-DC thing, when is this?
