I'm saying that UM actually offered and low-balled it to LM, trying to bank on his love of the university and his concern that he may never get another shot. I bet they came in with a 3-4 year deal worth $2.75 mil a year and a housing allowance of say, $125k a year.

Miles was insulted and sent them packing.

I feel bad (sorta) for LM if true, because he now knows that he'll never coach there and he feels insulted and unappreciated by the low-ball offer.

Just my spin, until a better spin (or facts) come around.

I say he took a good look at that defense and threw up in his mouth.

with all the private planes, they probably spent more than that just getting down to Baton Rouge...

Michigan isn't exactly hurting for money.
i seriously doubt they low-balled him.

So in your theory they didn't run this by Miles' agent or they did and he suggested they go ahead and try to get Miles on the cheap to that mess up there and Miles took that meeting?

If this is what they offered, Miles should fire his agent for even setting up the face to face meeting.

OR

being the michigan man he is, he has decided to make an everlasting mark on a program on his own, much like his old coach/boss.

Not true. They discussed an offer comparable to the one Miles has here. I dont think it was a matter of which contract was the richest.

Nope he is right from a Michigan guy here. It has been Brady Hoke the whole time Brandon just wanted to make it seem like they wanted a good coach. Lloyd Carr wants Hoke with his 47-55 career record to bring the pain to Michigan.

Good lucks guys enjoy being a good team and having a good coach.

Dave Brandon can take all his poor quality pizza money and that big arse jet and shove it up his rear!!!!!

Les is a tiger at heart now and forever.

We are the elite program,in the elite conference!! Michigan once was, but now is the whipping boy of a crap conference! e.g. Ohio St. BCS record.

Hubb:

I think you are right with this. It was a courtousy meeting. Detroit Free Press has sources that have similar information:

quote:

Ultimately, a person familiar with the discussions told the Free Press that Michigan and Miles could not agree on the parameters for Miles to come to Ann Arbor. The person said the conversation ended amicably.

Well every source "close to the situation" has been epically wrong in all ways.

So Id bet it ended in a screaming fight where miles said he would become an Ohio St coach gratis during the OSU Michigan week

It appears (per ESPN) he was never offered the job so he never turned UM down. More like they told him what a contract would be if offered and he decided not to have them offer.

I think UM was meeting with Miles to discuss GC going there as a HC and who Les thought would make a good DC under GC.

MIles answer of course was it dosent matter in the first two years but after that the DC better hold your opponents to less than 14.
