Am I just naive and this is actually pretty common?

I'll admit that I don't know much about moose... but I know F*CKIN'HUGE when I see it!

Here is a link that claims to be of the same moose.

LINK

quote:

By the length of his beard and the grey legs, I figure he must be over 10 years old. He looks to be well over 8 feet at the top of the shoulder hump, and with his head up the height to the top of his antler must be about 12 feet. This guy is king of the forest, no bear or pack of wolves would dare come after him when he has this rack. Considering that a dirt road can fit 1 1/2 cars across, this fellow is HUGE. THIS IS ONE BIG BOY!

The moose has no shadow. In both pictures everything is the same but the moose. Photoshopped is what I believe.

All you guys that shoot archery tournaments, will know about this.... Moving through stations at normal distances, (18-30 yards), shooting deer, turkey, hog targets, and then busting out on a highline and seeing a moose or standing bear at about 50-60 yards will make most new shooters pop them in the kneecaps.. The size of the animal makes it appear much closer than it is.. Hilarious to watch, frustrating to experience..This was much more prevalent back in the days when bows weren't quite as fast, which meant that distance judging was much more important.

I am hoping to go to Alaska this summer. Seeing something like this would be beyond awesome.

Moose are absofreakinglutely huge. I went Moose hunting once in Newfoundland. On the second day I saw a guy shoot one near a pond bank, the moose was able to stagger down into the pond and we spent about 6 hours hauling it out of there just to field dress it. Two days later I shot a moose much smaller in rack size that was just walking down the jeep trail. I had a split second of indecision about the size of the trophy then remembered the work we put in with the one in the pond and decided small road moose >> big pond moose!
