Why would it take that much to leave for a better job? And that's not 4M base.

I think it would. TCU's not a bad gig. You have fertile recruiting grounds (though you are competing with many schools). TCU should be able to get BCS bowl very often through the BIg East, and they were one loss away from being in the NC game. Plus the expectations (as of now) aren't as high as LSU. And TCU's facilities are on the rise.

i would have said this if they weren't going to be moving in the big east.

can he really do much more in the Big East? A Big East team was undefeated and #3 last year, just like TCU this year.

If he's gonna leave it's not gonna be because of the money. TCU can and prob will match anything we offer.

Yeah the rant seems to think he enjoys being at a directional Texas school that will never reach the appeal of at least three other schools in that state.

What direction is Christian?

Like I said, just because TCU will be a BCS AQ conference member doesn't mean they'll get any more respect in the polls portion of the BCS rankings... isn't that an issue this year? if TCU were in the SEC this year, he'd have effectively controlled his own destiny for the BCS title.

and nine of that comes close to what LSU has. Coaches aren't scared of high expectations

I'm tired of these stupid rantard posts. Skip hired the right candidate, which is why we've been so successful and why Michigan is after our coach.

The point is that these guys still make financial decisions based on any rational person. And the LSU job is better, can offer more money, resources, and competition at the highest level of the game. TCU will always be there if he wants to go back.

They would still be left out in the big east. But the bowl tie-ins are better and I would think their post-season revenue would improve on the whole.

I guess all the posters on this board who can't understand why it's such lock that GP won't leave MIGHTY, MIGHTY BIG EAST BOUND TCU, are all congregated here. Nice to meet you. What is this groupthink about that TCU is a powerhouse that a coach wouldn't leave for a better job, or that TCU is on par with LSU because its in the BE now all about? Is it because ESPN sells these notions, and people take it and run with it as their opinion?

but even going undefeated in the big east, they dont play in the BCSCG this year or last

this is what I was thinking as well

The Big East is bad, but TCU is still not used to playing against bigger and stronger guys every single week.

The notion they just walk in and never drop a game is pretty foolish IMO, especially with Holgorsen at WVU.

Apparently accd to a lot of ppl here Patterson is TCU's Joe Pa

Curious if there are links you can provide where ranters either claimed that Patterson was "never ever leaving" (as you claimed on the other Patterson post), or that he's TCU's Joe Pa. The vast majority of level-headed posts I've seen thus far have merely argued that, when you consider all of the objective elements of THIS moment in time, it's unlikely that he leaves TCU in 2011. That's it. If they hadn't just won the Rose Bowl, or they weren't moving to the Big East, or they weren't about to play in a brand new $100M stadium, or Patterson hadn't built that program with his own two hands...if any of these factors weren't in play, the probability of Patterson moving to LSU in 2011 would be higher. But that's not the case. Doesn't mean it won't be different in future years - just means that's the state of affairs today. Period.

And if it's so impossible for you to comprehend, how can you explain Peterson staying at Boise all these years, while some of the biggest gigs in college football have been draped in front of him.....Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, USC...

But as a few wise ranters have said in other posts today, certainly no reason why Joe shouldn't give it a shot. But it's not the direction I'd spin the wheels for more than a conversation or two.
