No. Just No. We'd take steps back and lose a chance at a title the next few years. They're not behind him in Houston at it is, we'd need a coach used to big school recruiting at least.

If lsu hires a new football coach he will be along the lines of Sumlin. A coach with a good back ground but no one with an incredible background. We will hire a Sumlin not a Patterson, Peterson, del Rio, Gruden nor a Saban.

A choice like this is actually a smart choice. It allows the HC to come in and not make whole sale changes at our other coaching positions which would maintain continuity with players and recruits. It would immediately upgrade our offense which is our biggest weakness. Great pick.

Retaining John and Frank, I would like the hire.

If it were Sumlin he better find some defensive coaches to come with him.Right now,he has no idea what defense is.

I would approve of the hire if he keeps FW & the defensive staff. I especially like his TX influence we should have more recruiting success there.

F... NO, F.... NO - Unqualified and Inconsistant with limted cred -- we need a head coach _ not an air-raid coordinator with NO Defenses. How have Houston's defenses been ranked. He is LAST on my list just ahead of Briles.

WOW! a man like himself? U mean a young, qualified, innovative head coach. For the same reason u don't want him, it actually his biggest +, i mean remember 90% of the players we recruit are like him.

frick the fricking no.

Briles built that team and Sumlin is UH's Coker. They didn't do shite this year.

Plus, what happened last time we hire a CUSA coach?

Heisman candidte QB got hurt, that would kill anybodys season. Teams like Houston don't have backup QBs as good as their starters.

In fairness, they were down to like their 14th string QB. I like Sumlin, and think he should at least be on the list.

As important as recruiting is, I still don't think LSU should rush into this hire. No one I've heard is any kind of slam-dunk, no interview type. I would have a list of finalists and interview every one of them with an open mind.

We could do worse than Bo Pelini, but he's not so awesome that we need to hire him Monday without even considering anybody else. This hire needs to be made no earlier than Wednesday or Thursday. Would rather lose a day or 2 of recruiting than to be stuck with the wrong guy.

LOL! We need great defense. Chavis is good not elite. Pelini, Saban, Gary Patterson; they're elite. Hire the right OC and you're a power..

I don't think Sumlin is Coker, but I do think Briles is a better candidate for precisely this reason. He built that program and is now winning at friggin' Baylor.

Saban is not coming back let it go, Patterson loves TCU, Pelini plllleease. Be realistic for once, everyone is not sitting around hoping LSU's head coaching job opens. Hiring Pelini would bring many unneeded changes (i.e the coaching staff and recruitng). Hiring Sumlin with the agreement to keep Chavis,Wilson, and company, we won't lose much, but the gain is plentiful

I wouldn't want Sumlin, but I'm not shocked this thread brought out the mouth-breathering racists from Watson, etc. If Sumlin loses, he'll have a hard time in BR for that reason.

if hes the guy, i want the AD to go after him. what i dont want, is them to pick him over others b/c of that reason, just to be PC and look progressive and everything else. thats my fear with sumlin
