Does anyone remember when Tyrann Mathieu...

was virtually unheard of and had like 2 stars...and got offered by Miles and company after some great high school workouts (some people and gave flack for offering to him on here). He is every where on the field and looks to be a great asset for the next several years...looks like a bright future

It went on for roughly an hour until somebody posted that you tube vid of him blanketing everyone (including Jarvis Landry) at the Tenn camp.
Then everyone was unanimous in agreement that it was just a matter of time before he would get a significant bump in rankings once the scouting services saw his footage.
A lot of us said it didn't matter if he got bumped or not because we knew he was a beast.

Everyone already saw the Tennessee camp footage of him dominating Markeith Ambles and holding Landry in check. I actually don't remember any negative comments on this board about the pickup at the time.
You may be thinking of Blackmon or Houston Bates.

Wasn't he rated #1 in cover skills, crazy thing is with how well Simon is doing I can't see them taking Matthieu out of the role he plays now. The guy was born to be disruptive!

Of course there were still posts made by ignorant rantards who criticized the staff for taking him. This place being what it is, it would have been bizarre if there had not been those threads.

I think that footage from the Tennessee camp brought it home for a lot of fans. TM went step for step with some of the best WRs in that class (I think I remember him going up against 6'5" Kyle Prater and getting a pass deflection in the endzone). Reminds me of watching Chad Jones in the 2007 season, just a mean dude.

LSU had almost assuredly scouted him before that, but it's not like we were offering him before that camp

man, the only thing really negative said about him was that he's short. LSU hasn't really used short CBs since pre-saban

Cadello, what happened is everybody was bitching because we offered Mathieu and nobody had really heard of him. Then the video got posted and stories about him locking down the Tennessee camp, and people started liking him. By the time he committed a week or so later everybody liked him.
