I wasn't clamoring for Jimbo to be gone, but I was kind of sick of his offense as well.

everybody i can remember.
i remember when gary was beloved in 07, when the offense was breakin school records.
now we're running the same plays, same schemes, with actually pretty good adjustments but we're not successful. because the qb cant hit the open guy.

How many of you were wanting jimbo gone? i remember a lot of posters on the rant griping about jimbo and was excited to see him gone. Then a lot of cheering for crowton and the offense in 2007. Now, it's back to wanting crowton gone. i'm not saying i think he should stay. i'm just curious as to who it is that wanted jimbo gone and if you want crowton gone. is it the same people?
Good god, man.
Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds!

#108 and

is not curious.
Yes, I thought Jimbo was an underachiever.
But Crowton is a colossal failure.
There's nothing inconsistent about that.

gary always gets blamed for horrible schemes and play calling. but i can't ever get an answer to what's so wrong with his schemes?
only thing i hear is, we're wasting talent at wr. well how many drops did we have? and how many times were those wrs running open, or open enough to hit, and the qb couldn't hit them?
coaches get too much credit, too much blame. sorry to tell you. great coaches can have bad players and lose. bad coaches can have great players and win.

This is correct other than the "running the same plays, same schemes, with actually pretty good adjustments" part.

it's the same philosophy. differnet adjustments to the scheme has occured.
we dont run the slip screens anymore because our qbs can't throw it accurately.
we haven't run much I in the last couple 2 years, because our fbs are terrible.
and we switched to more of a zone-read this year after jj started what? 2 tds to 8 ints? i think gary should get credit for that.
i think the adjustments in the second halves of the florida, bama, and ole miss won those 3 games.
i don't know if anyone could've done a better job with these 2 qbs. maybe, but we'll never know.

Could Jimbo be that rare coach who actually does better as a head coach than as a coordinator?

They are a pretty vocal bunch of people but yes, they are pretty much the same people. If our offense isn't shredding defenses, they want somebody to pay.

but I was annoyed at his tendencies to get ultra conservative against good defenses.
I could get annoyed too but perhaps that was the wisest thing to do in order for us to achieve victory, which is the ultimate objective. I think both Saban and Fisher know alot more about what our personnel could and couldn't do and what it was going to take to get us a win than anyone on here.

better qb = crowton lovers galore
Posted on 1/4/11 at 6:43 pm to dos crystal
Both sucked. I'd take Rich Rod or Gus Malzahn or Chip Kelly or Dana Holgerson or Mike Leach or Dan Mullins. It was time for Jimbo to go, that doesn't mean it was time for Crowton. Choose wisely, my friend.

It was never this bad under Fisher,
We put up 24 points/game in 2002 and 28 points/game in 2004. We put 28 points/game this year.

hell even under fricking McConnell in 1999, the offense wasn't this bad.
We only put up 20 points/game in 1999. Crowton and Jimbo never had an offense that bad. You don't know what you are talking about.

Crowton is still living of what he did at La Tech in the late 90s. Oregon is laughing at LSU for keeping this idiot!

If you really think this is Crowtons' offense your an idiot. Crowton is the Administartor of Les Miles' offense.

I wanted Jimbo gone, but that was for just following the crowd. I guess I never really had a reason other than just being a lemming. Now, I am older and wiser (I assume) and can see the writing on the wall with crowton.

Every LSU fan knows about Gary Crowton, the offense-killer. He’s the guy who followed LaVell Edwards at BYU and lasted only four years before being fired after making exactly one bowl. Then he went to Oregon in between the old Jeff Tedford/Joey Harrington offense and the new, awesome Chip Kelly offense (2005-06). Ducks fans will remember those years as the years Oregon’s offense secretly sucked, especially in 2006, his last year before his tenure at LSU began, when he couldn’t figure out how to use Dennis Dixon properly. Chip Kelly sure did.

In Crowton’s first year as Les Miles’ OC (2007), the Tigers won the BCS championship. Once again, he won with his predecessors’ players. This time it was Jimbo Fisher, who is now the head coach at Florida State. The next year, the Tigers went 8-5. In 2009, the Tigers went 9-4 and were absolutely awful on offense again. 2010 wow LSU is what # 100 in offense???
