Because of all of the negativity that the big 10 is receiving right now because of their shitty bowl performances, it makes me wonder if Michigan will be pulling for OSU to beat arky to save face. Or, do you think that they would prefer tha OSU get killed?

It's my guess michigan fans are rooting against Ohio State. Big Ten fans aren't as provincial as SEC fans.

You'd be surprised. Saw some diehard Buckeyes in the bar yesterday pulling for Michigan and everyone was pulling for Wisconsin.

LMAO this can't be a real question. The only fans that give a shite about how other teams in their conference performs are SEC fans. Plus this is their rival, why the frick would they root for them?

ok....note to those who DON'T pull for their conference:

whenever the media puts your conference at the top of the mountain as the "best conference in the land", you get to participate in the bcsnc game whenever you are tied with teams with two losses in regular season. you see, the bcs is 2/3rds human vote. and, if you don't think that having that "reputation" is an advantage, you are weak minded.

who said it doesn't have an advantage? In the long run it does.
But what good does it do to Michigan if OSU wins the Sugar? The damage of the Big Ten has been done already.

2 questions:

An SEC team won the 2003 BCS CG, please explain why an undefeated SEC team was left out of the 2004 BCS CG if your conference winning the NC is so important.

Next, Oklahoma lost the BCS CG in 2003 and 2004 and again in 2008. Texas, OU's Big 12 rival, playing in the BCS CG in 2005 and 2009.

Its really a shame LSU fans belittle our 2007 title by saying it was because of the SEC and not what LSU accomplished in the regular season. Computers do not take into account what other teams from your conference did in the past and LSU was #2 in the computers in 2007.

we weren't deamed by the media as the "best conference in the country" yet. We were just starting our dominance. But to prove my point, here is question for you:

if this were the same scenario NOW, do you think that Auburn would be left out this year because of our new "status"?

I don't give a shite about the Conference, it was proven to be garbage yesterday. I hope OSU gets killed every time they take the field, and I hope they feel the same about Michigan.

The Big Ten needs to get Michigan to come back to prominence. Right now there is a power shift with teams like Michigan State where they don't belong. I believe yesterday's games, with this exception of Wisconsin, were part of this shift that we saw. It's time for Michigan to start kicking some arse again and make Ohio State earn their titles. Hopefully Nebraska can stem the tide too and change things for the better. Right now the Big Ten is a basketball conference.

A real Michigan fan would never pull for tOSU...and I would expect vice-versa.

most people have always said the SEC was the best conference.

The BCS started in 98, by 2004 THE SEC had 2 titles, no other conference more than 1.

Your opinion doesn't "prove" anything. If LSU is undefeated when I wear my purple LSU boxers than doesn't prove anything either.

Why don't you answer my question about Texas making the title game twice in years following OU loses.

It would depend on who the teams were and the overall SOS and computer rankings Auburn had. What kept AU out in 2004 was their schedule was weaker than OU and USC in 2004, not because the voters didn't respect the SEC. If AU has a better SOS and computer score, then they would be in. SOS and computers do not take into account last years bowl results.

Personally, I don't care either way.
If UM wins, it's good for the conference.
If UM loses, I get to laugh at a few friends.

...unless they beat us. Then I want them to lose no matter what.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I was rooting for Michigan. The same way I was rooting for them when they beat Florida a few years back.

Since the regular season is over Michigan losing to an SEC team only proves the Big10 doubters right.

I personally don't see how an OSU fan can root against them when it directly affects the reputation of the conference and OSU at the same time.

Now you're beginning to understand why SEC fans root for each other's teams in OOC/Bowl Games.

Because a good conference rep can help your team get into a bowl when they might otherwise be left out. Especially when that bowl game is the bcs title game.

Not as much as having a good season, winning all your games, having a good computer score etc. What happens this year will not impact next years final rankings. If an SEC is deserving of being in the NCG they will get in even if Oregon wins this year.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how Texas got into the 05 and 09 BCS CG after OU lost the 03.04 and 08 BCS CG's

I grew up in Big Ten country, live down south now and never was loyal to my conference. Fact is, if everyone in the Big Ten was sub par, OSU would land even more top recruits, and have a easy path to the championship. OSU will never be ranked low with a quality squad so if the Big Ten goes 1-7 or whatever, if OSU wins, Im good. Also, have a SEC team go north in January...

Why do people forget that the basically same Auburn team got blasted at HOME by basically the same USC team in 2003?

That is why they didn't make the NC game that year. OU came off a great year where they lost the NC by a TD, but got an even better running game the following year.

Auburn didn't get shafted. Don't get embarrassed by USC at home the year before and they have an argument.
