patience, and pay attention

Nope, lower your expectations. You should have seen it in the theater. At least then you would have been entertained by the pseudo-intellectuals. Even with that, I almost fell asleep in the theater.
Prepare to have 2 hrs of your life taken from you with no benefit to show for it.

Maybe you should have gotten your high school diploma first before seeing the movie.

Perhaps you should get off the internet and actually pay attention to whats going on

For laughs I can be entertained by almost anything.
But for psychological thrillers, I need something more than Inception delivered. I'd gladly start with banning that stupid arse music track playing endlessly in the background - making it abundantly clear the director is playing with people's susceptibility to be influenced by such influences. I don't need parlor tricks to be thrilled. A good story line will do just fine.
I could also do without those grueling slow motion fight scenes in spinning rooms. There wasn't a more obvious example of a director's efforts to extend the length of the movie to thrill the Bill and Ted types.

That was the best scene in the whole movie. And no I'm not one of those "Bill and Ted" types you refer to.

If you think Inception relied on parlor tricks to be a good movie you are really showing your ignorance. Im sorry that is nothing other than a stupid opinion of the film.

I thought it was a solid B+; lowering my expectations helped.

I thought the first hour of inception was mind blowing. The second hour not so much. The movie felt 30 minutes too long and I think most of that could have been cut from the climatic scene, which dragged a little IMO.

I understand what you're saying, as you wanted to be more intellectually challenged, and I hear many people say this. But you also hear many people say it's too complicated. This is where I think Nolan succeeded in what he was doing. He made a blockbuster hit, so he had to appeal to the masses by dumbing it down, yet he still made it thought provoking enough to satisfy movie critics (apparently not you though).

I definitely went in expecting too much. I also thought I was supposed to be confused throughout the movie but I didn't find it hard to follow at all.
All in all I still liked it and will watch it again.

Inception is easily one of the top films in the last 10 years. IMBD ranks it #6 ALL TIME.
Phenomenal film, but certainly not for those who would rather leave their brains at the door on the way into the theater.
Also, if you aren't watching it on a 50" screen or bigger - with surround sound, you're missing a lot of the awesomeness of the movie.
Shame on those of you who didn't go see it in the theater.

Also, there is NO way that you can fully appreciate the movie and catch all of the cool details that Nolan throws in by watching it just once. Watch it twice more - and then get back to us.
