Low-Carb Beer Suggestion

I Love Beer! Let me rephrase this... I LOVE BEER!
But my waistline has increased to the point that I cannot fit into my winter clothing. And I believe that it is due to the fact that I have been drinking a lot of really good dark beer lately.
So, in order to lose weight, one idea is to stop drinking beer and move to Light Rum & Diet Coke or switch to Low Carb Beer.
Michelob Ultra taste like San Peligrino. Michelob Ultra Amber is not bad; but just isnt right either. Someone told me that Stouts were low-carb; and sho-enough the label on Guinness Stout says 'Low-Carb'. There are much worse beers than Guinness.
Does anybody have any experience in this? Can you recommend a tasty beer that will prevent me from gaining anymore weight? TYVM

The reason Guinness is low carb is cuz its low alcohol. Alcohol is the main factor in how many calories beer has. It doesn't matter if a beer is dark in color or light in color. Mixed drinks can have a lot of sugary stuff that makes the drink even more fattening than beer. Personally, I'd get my fat arse out the door to exercise a bit rather than give up good beer.

This...if you need to lose weight you need to do a lot of other things besides just changing your beer.

I second that!
I would rather run 5 miles a day than switch to that low carb BS. It would be a different story if you said you only drank Coors Light and wanted to switch, but to go from any decent dark beer to a low carb????

I don't know where to begin in how wrong this is.
Guinness is one of the healthiest beers available.
However, I agree with several people above...get off your arse and exercise rather than switching to low-carb beer.

What don't you agree with? Guinness is a relatively low alcohol beer....4.1%. And so has less calories than an average beer.

Alcohol content is different from carb content. E.g., liquor is high in calories and has zero carbs.

Yes. I exercise so I don't have to drink light/low carb beers.

I was making the jump from carb to calories since calories are more important than carbs for losing weight.....which I know I've just opened a whole other pandoras box.
