he has used his son to get places

His son had nothing to do with him getting the gig at Miami OH. The connection was that Haywood recruited the Lafayette area for LSU when Guidry was at Carencro and they formed a relationship. I know that a lot of LSU fans hold grudges over the Janzen situation but I know him personally and Lance is a good guy. I am happy for him. He a great secondary coach!

I'm not a Lance Guidry defender. I also don't keep up with high school recruiting either.
Lance coached at the college level (McNeese St.). He got a job with Haywood at Miami (OH).
His son signed with Tennessee.
How did his son get him a job at Miami (OH)?
I'm confused.

I watched his "great" secondary the couple of years before he left McNeese.
"Great" is hardly the word I would use.

He can't play for them. Maybe, they didn't good enough players. The couple of years that he was the defensive coordinator at McNeese, they were ridiculous defensively. Were you watching then? Did you ever consider that having players helps or are you one of those guys that blames coaches for everything?
Look, I've watched him coach up close and personal and this guy is good.

frick Lance Guidry and JJ. I hope they both fail spectacularly.

I don't doubt his coaching ability on the field, but recruiting against him would not be difficult, considering the way he handled his own son's commitment.
I've known him as a college player, Leesville, Carencro, McNeese, etc. I really had a hard time watching his situation play out. But, I stop short of making excuses for the way it was handled.

I'm trying to figure out how his son got him the job at Miami (OH).
Seriously. I'm not trying to argue or debate.
I really want to know what one thing has to do with the other.

Like him or don't like him, he can coach!
He left McNeese as DC to go coach his son in high school at Carencro. They then moved to Lake Charles where he continued to instruct him while he played at Barbe and coached at Mcneese at the same time.
He gave up a lot to coach his son and his son WAS A 5 STAR STUD that every college in America wanted!!!
How in the F**K can you say he can't coach? He coached on of if not THE best db in the country himself!
LSU had his son's services but ORGERON convinced him to go to Tenn, which is the only place other than LSU he might have gone, and that is only because Orgeron was a Mcneese guy and friends with Lance from many many years before!
Was it dumb in hindsight, YES. JJ made a bad call with a man they trusted. But it was JJ's call.
LSU missed, it happens and it sucks cause he is a player who would have kept Hatchers sorry arse from losing the Arky game for us!

I'll break it down for you...........Lance's son is a 5 star DB.
His son is also committed to LSU. Lane Kiffin roles in with Coach O and Monte. Comes down and courts Janzen. Janzen is impressed with the courting. As an insurance to make sure they lock up the signiture; Kiffin and O make calls for old Lance to get him a gig near his son with the "guarantee" that in a few years they will transition him to staff at Tennessee.
Lance gets job at Miami Ohio---Janzen goes to Tennessee...........then his dad says he did it to get out the mean streets of Welsh..........
And the rest is history......

That sounds reasonable.
I mean, it is possible that because of all the former LSU coaches on the staff that knew Lance, thought it would be a good fit but...
I can believe the other version too.

It sounds reasonable but it is wrong! Nobody made aphone call to get him the job with haywood. They knew each other from haywood's days at lsu! Period. End of story. Don't post crap if you don't know what you are talking about. Guidry got the job at miami with haywood and now at pitt on his own credentials. Anything else that anybody says is just garbage and them still being pissed at janzen. Was it handled poorly, yes, but jj went where he wanted to go and in no way did orgeron, kiffen or anybody else but lance guidry get lance guidry his job.

The only way Kiffin could get Janzen out of LA, was to get Lance out of LA.
