.....how would have felt if it were LSU. There are so many people that posted that they wanted Muschamp as HC in Baton Rouge.

I still think this is a middle of the road hire for Florida.

Hire a DC away from a team that just finished 5-7.

think it's a good hire but obv w/ a lot of risk. He's got a lot of traits that I love, but I wanna see who he brings on staff. Applewhite isn't the most impressive start. He'll still kill it recruiting at UF, but it's a def step down from Meyer and what they were before. Overall I'd be really surprised if he didn't do well.

Muschamp will be fine. Most need to put aside the hate and view the hire objectively. He will be a homerun hire.

muschamp has big stache potential for sure

nobody has any idea how well he can organize a program or how his high-energy act will translate to a HC job

i wanted muschamp to be in a similar role as les, but LSU is a different program than UF with different situations

muschamp wouldn't be following a beloved legend like he is at UF. that alone, with his personality, makes this a HUGE risk

Yeah, tons of punks on here wanted Muschamp at LSU for the HC but now they are acting like UF got a bad coach???

Well, he had talent at UF but the D wasn't all that. Maybe Mac was really calling the defensive plays

Should be interesting but he's not even close to being as big of a prick as CUM.

See, that's why I think it's a meh hire.

I would have thought that Florida would have brought someone with that proven potential. Not just potential.

See Ron Zook.

i would have been disappointed as an LSU fan.

glad this was f.u.'s move. I think it will mean the SECE will continue to be the punch-drunk sparring partner of the SECW for a while now.

&

he is high risk period especially considering who he is following coupled with his lack of HC experience.

the odds are better for him to be Zook part 2 than it is him being a homerun hire. THAT'S objective.

big question mark as to that. Homerun hire was Meyer or Saban or Stoops, Muschamp is a def step below at this point

stoops, petrino, mullen, harbaugh were no longer options

they'd have to wait on any established coach, and may get left high and dry

they needed a guy to commit NOW

Really? When he was hired, he was a "homerun"?

I really don't see much "hate" here. Objectively; I would have been very happy to have Muschamp here until about the middle of this season. Since then; I think we probably have better and certainly I'd expect to do better. Same goes for Bo Pelini.

if you don't think Meyer was a freakin' grand slam (or at least 2-RUN HOMER) in comparison to Muschamp, you are dense.

Meyer had done it at Bowling Green, then Utah, and in really impressive fashion in Utah in particular. He had 2 HC stops on his resume so far and had by far the best years those 2 programs had had to that point. He was a HR. In fact, he was *the guy* I wanted LSU to go after, but Florida had a leg up with firing Zook early.

Idiotic reasoning. Texas has the #7 Total defense in college football this year. Their defense had nothing to do with them going 5-7 and had everything to do with a terrible offense and zero running game.

Will Muschamp has been a DC for a BCS National Champion (LSU), coached multiple Top 10 Defense's at LSU, Auburn & Texas, was the DC for Texas last year for the Big 12 Champions & National runner up Texas Longhorns. He is one of the better recruiters in the country. THOSE are the reason's he is the new HC at Florida not because his defense at Texas this year was #7 in the country in Total Defense.

0 head coaching experience would be the reason I wouldn't want him.

I know, right? It was on the offense.

Well, major rumor right now is that he is hiring Major Applewhite as his OC.

Homerun hire? I highly doubt it. He has done nothing to show he can be a head coach. He has a chance to be good, but nothing points to this.
