No brainer to hire him for OC. He has experience with multiple offensive packages and may have an idea how to use Shepard. Plus, pairing him with wilson can help recruiting even more.

Has he ever been more than a WR coach? He may be the greatest OC ever, I have no idea, but I'm not sure I want to find out while he learns here.

You do realize that a NFL WR Coach does not do much, right?

Curtis Johnson does and he was great at it on the college level.

No brained? He's never ran an offense. Yeah sounds great....

He's been a WR Coach his entire career, what makes you think he'd step in as a "no brainer" OC in the SEC successfully?
Posted on 11/29/10 at 8:21 pm to bddwolfpack
Because he know's how to gameplan. He know's how to create a advantage against the defense. He's not Earl Lane, he doesnt sleep in Offensive meetings in New Orleans.
We better grab him before he heads back to the U.

I think he is a great coach but OC? Too risky. If he was coming in to replace Gonzo, I'd say hell yes, homerun hire and probably couldn't do better.

I'd love it if CJ were at LSU, just as the WR Coach, not the OC. I don't want the reigns turned over to someone who has never been an OC before.

if he brought Marshall Faulk, Reggie Wayne and Ed Reed to Les Miles he'd just turn them into career backups anyway

I saw and witnessed at practices what he did with the offense (even as Wr coach ) at SDSU. The guy is a gem. He can run a offense at the college level. He knows advantages. Something we cant figure out right now. Thats all OC is, gameplan for advantages..He's paid his dues.
I would argue, he can come in and be top 3 OC's in the SEC right away..

didn't you want Todd Monken as OC once?
Posted on 11/29/10 at 8:56 pm to BilJ
I wouldnt hire him as a head coach/oc.. Two of those are head coaches..again name 3 OC's. I should be more specific.. Assistant coaches that are OC's that could be better.
