Let's say that LSU had a vacancy at head coach, what names would be inevitably mentioned as a replacement?

Gruden
Muschamp
Del Rio
Tubberville
Nutt
Malzahn
John Fox
Leach
Richt
Chris Peterson

Who am I missing?

I would have added him, but with TCU moving to the Big East, seems like he has lost some incentive to bolt...

Which i think is a terrible idea, but maybe you are right. Even as a BCS conference team, I think TCU is a stepping stone job.

I know the word is Peterson will never leave Boise, but it should be clear to him after this past weekend if he wants a shot at a championship, it ain't gonna happen in Idaho.

Petrino, although that Atlanta stint may have taken some of the shine off if his star and he may need to stay at Arky to fix that.

LSU will never hire the next big name available. We have never hired a big name coach that anyone had in their top ten. Miles, Saban, Dinardo, Hallman, Archer. Etc etc. Hallman was the most popular hire of them all actually and look what happened.
