When you play a team like Ar-Kansas, you know heading into the game that they are gonna make some plays. Yes, the defense gave up a few big plays that became TDs. Along the same lines, out red-zone offense, or lack thereof, turned opportunites for TDs into FGs, and you CANNOT kick field goals and beat a good offense on the road, you just cannot do it. We force a turnover, get the ball around the 10 and end up kicking a FG??? That is how football games are lost!

I lost a ton of confidence in Chavis the last two weeks.

Overall statistics tell the story.

Our defense is good enough to win the games we should and even some we shouldn't.

However, when you have virtually the worst passing offense statistically in the country and your offense can put up no more than 80 total yards in the second half against Arkansas----your problem is your Offensive Coordinator.

Fire him. Get a QB. And, you have the recipe for a dominating team.

I'm saying this because LSU continually has Top Recruiting classes. If they didn't I would simply say they are doing the best they can with the talent they have.

But, they have superior talent ALL over the field!!!

This is what is hilarious about this board. Kill the Coaches!! Change the World!! Everyone needs to look at the season as a body of work, then make the assessment. If we micromanage the situation, we'll end up with a mess worse than Bobby Lowder has made of the entire Auburn University system.

On Mallet's three TD Passes, ask yourself this question. When the play started, was the defense in the wrong set, or was the wrong defensive play called? In both cases in the 1st half, the answer was clearly, NO. Hatcher was initially in a position to make a simple tackle, but both times took a horrible angle to knock the crap out of the guy instead of just making the tackle. On the 4th and 3 towards the end of the game, again the defense was in the proper set. Mathieu just bit on the 1st half of the double move and was toasted. The pass was placed in a position where help from a safety would not have helped. It was nothing more than a fade route from the 30 yd line and Arkansas made the better play. It happens.

Everyone needs to understand in every contest there are TWO teams playing. Just because someone scores against LSU does not necessarily mean the coaches F*&$#ed up. Arkansas has a GREAT, experienced team with an excellent QB - maybe not the best in the country, but Mallet certainly ranks in the top 10. CAM Newton is a freak of nature on the ball-field. Although bought and paid for illegally (ha ha), for 12 games now he has proven himself better than everyone he has played. That's why we actually play the game. If not, we'd be 7 and 5 and playing in Memphis in a couple of weeks.

Before fall practice started, general consensus noted three areas of concern: Offensive and Defensive lines and QB. Chavis told us at the outset that we were young and inexperienced at a number of positions on defense but we'll get better as the season goes along. I think now everyone realizes just how critical Sam Monte and Brandon Taylor were to this young defense. The continued offensive ineptitude and lack of getting the talented skill players involved have been, and continue to be the weakness exploited by our opponents. THAT is the responsibility of the offensive position coaches and coordinators. Blame them, not the Cheif.

Look at Arkansas' 1st half stats. 170 of the 256 yards were on two plays. How many 3-5 play stops did LSU have in the 1st half? More than enough to hold the Hogs to a single touchdown. Special teams did their job yet again. For 3 quarters the defense (with the exception of the same player on 2 different plays) did their job. The problem with LSU's performance in this game (as with the Auburn game) was LSU's defense stayed on the field for too long in the 2nd half, gassed by the time the 4th quarter arrived, and was not able to stop Arky's offensive line push late in the game. Blame needs to be put squarely on the shoulders of Croton's "bat shite crazy" play calling and the continued under-performance of Stud's offensive line - NOT defensive schemes. Netting only 6 points with starting position at the 50 or better on three separate possessions is simply unacceptable. LSU's center position again killed them yesterday. Barksdale was soundly beat at least 3 times in the 2nd half alone. The 1st half pocket collapse was coming from the Center and Tackle failures.

Long answer to your statement, but look at what happened again and you might change your mind.

He is an above average DC. His defenses will keep you in every game.

The problem is when you need that one series or play for your defense to just dominate, his don't.

Two of those big plays were the results of players being overly-aggressive. Pure bad luck. shite happens.

That is ignorant . The game falls squarely on LM shoulders. He is the head coach responsible for controlling the game . He has JJ in the game after 7 , 3 and outs . He has JJ in the game when everyone knows he cat run the 2 minute offense . With 7:31 left in the game , after an AR run and huddle , he lets the clock go from 7:31 to 6:55 before he calls a timeout . When we had the ball late in the game inside the 10 with 3+ minutes left , we ran the ball 3 times in a row , with no timeouts called . He waits until JJ takes a 15yd sack to the 25 to call a timeout . LOL and after that timeout JJ again cant complete a pass , so he runs for 5 yds and as precious time ticks off the clock we slowly line up for a FG .

DO we even practice onside kicks ? Jasper kicked it to Hamilton like he was a 6yo . Here you go Hamilton , one long hop right to him .

LM clock management and lack of leadership is to blame for yesterdays embarassing loss .
