What direction is this team going?

Over the past 2 game I have seen lackluster play and very poor effort. Every team runs into a rough stretch in the season, but this is way too early to do it. Teams I believe have honed in on Paul and are starting to rough him up a little bit. That has been the formula for always beating a Chris Paul Hornets team. I just hope that we can get through this tough road stretch.

the paul-west pick and roll has been discovered by other teams.
the rest of our team settles for jumpers they cant hit.
nobody rotates on defense.
not looking good.

Bayless was a better defender than Jack. They messed up the team chemistry.

Getting wins against Portland and the Spurs would be big, just have to put this game behind them and focus. The Hornets have lots of gaps, hopefully Demps can pull of a trade that makes the team better.

Simply beating a shitty Clippers team 2 nights ago would've made this loss easier to swallow...

Team will be fine, but people got too high on them from the good early start.
People need to realize that we had a huge turnover of players on this team (some good and some bad) and it's going to take time for them to reach their real level.
They are 10-3 now which is pretty damn good. They HAVE to get another legit big if they want to do any serious damage in the playoffs. I am not sure why they are playing MBenga over Andersen at this point either. At least he offers some hope on offense unlike Mbenga.
Also, people need to remember that Monty is a young coach and this is his first time being a head coach. He's made several mistakes, but will hopefully learn from them. He looks to be a good coach for the Hornets, so I hope people are patient with him.

A backup big is a must. It's gonna take us a while to get a rotation down pat. I don't know if a small ball line up of Jack, Green, and Thornton is going to work, especially with Smith at center. I like Smith, but he needs to stay at PF.

Reality
Team isn't as good as all of you thought after 8-9 games but isn't bad either.

I saw decent effort tonight but pretty sloppy execution. It seems like the only play they know if no one gets open is dump it to West. Ariza needs to stop shooting 3s and start driving to the basket.

they will win 48-50 games AT BEST and probably land somewhere around the 7th or 8th seed only to get knocked out in the 1st round.

Were you saying this stuff when we were 9-0?

they were never 9-0
and anyone who thought an 8-0 start in a 82 game season meant that this team was legit was foolish. they are a good team and a playoff team, but far from the NBA's elite teams.

Christ, where were you when we were 8-0 with all of these concerns?

No one put the hornets as a "elite" team, they are a good, solid team and with more time playing together they will be a great team

I want to see QPon get some minutes and for players to start making wide open shots Paul creates for them.
It is kind of like what Lebron was doing for Cavs the last several seasons. He would create wide open opportunities and no one would finish.
I think Monty will get the defense and ball security back on track. Just converting easy scoring opportunities is the biggest problem on offense.
