Just one more time. What has to happen for us to get a bcs game?

To get into a BCS game, we just have to win.
To get into the title game, we need pretty much everybody ahead of us to lose, and probably Auburn has to lose twice. We also want Stanford and Wisconsin to lose for good measure.
So basically, we want everybody to lose.

Boise State
TCU isn't going to lose...

O cmon New Mexico States got this. Is it them or New Mexico that gives up like 44 points a game

I'd rather AU winning out, we beat Ark, then we're locked into the BCS as an at-large.
LSU vs Boise in the Sugar

Every team with either zero or 1 loss not named Nevada.

We are also locked into a bcs bowl if we beat Arkansas and Bama beats Auburn. Worst case scenario is if auburn beats bama and loses to south carolina. Plus if Oregon makes it to the NCG the Rose will have to take Boise or TCU in the rose bowl. The sugar really wants 2 big name programs in their bowl this year. They don't want anymore Cincis and Utahs.

True, I wouldn't want to leave it up to the voters to put a 1 loss SEC team in the MNC though. How far would they drop Auburn with 1 loss? Brad Edwards has already stated that there is no way we jump an undefeated TCU to get in the MNC.
MNC aside, I'd rather go to the Sugar than the Orange.

We beat Arkansas...
Alabama beats Auburn...
and we are in the BCS regardless of what happens in the SEC Championship game and regardless of who plays for the National Championship.

We need a lot of help to get to the BCS championship. Need Auburn to lose twice and Oregon to lose. Then I can see us jumping TCU because they do not want Boise vs TCU for the championship. It would also be nice if Boise lost and we would play TCU in the championship.

We are number 5.
Therefore, I want numbers 1 - 4 to lose.

I'd take the bourbon bowl if it was against Boise or TCU.

Ezmny I am with you. Auburn to win out and LSU in the Sugar. I want Arky to lose.

I'm with you on that but if we make it to the sugar we are most likely going up against a big 10 at large team. If we go to the Orange we are probably up against the ACC champ. I've heard the Sugar wants 2 big universities this year. They have had to take Utah and Cincy the last 2 years.

If you want the BCS title game, then really, you might have to hope for an asteroid to hit the western US next saturday.
For a BCS game ala Sugar, etc, what would really help is for Auburn to win out and us to win. 11-1 with the lone loss to one of the contenders would almost certainly get us in. You're playing with fire with an Auburn loss. Remember, you're looking basically 2 at-large bids (given the other 2 go to Boise and TCU).
The Big 10 may have 3 11-1 teams, and with Wisconsin likely in the Rose, don't be shocked if Ohio St at 11-1 (with a share of their conference title) gets a bid somewhere. That still leaves an 11-1 co-champ Mich St in the Cap 1 bowl; moving 2 out of the big games is unlikely.
So you have 1 bid in contention between LSU and Stanford; if both are 11-1, you may look at who beat them. If Oregon is 12-0 and Auburn has a loss, it may be bad for us.
We're not in contention for the SEC title, so that hurts us vs the Big 10 teams.

Getting to play Boise or TCU would be awesome.
Personally...I'd rather go somewhere else other than the Sugar. Remember, band kids can't drink.

It's my understanding that BCS bowls are not required to take any team regardless of rank. They can choose who they want and alot of it is related to ticket sales. Of course traditional ties with certain bowls and conferences will effect decisions. Auburn loses to Bama and beats USC in the SEC Champ game they are in the Sugar. LSU is not guaranteed anything at all. We could get chosen, but could also get left out. Orange bowl is not required to take LSU. Rose won't take us.

I think there is a rule if you are in the top 4 you have to be taken to a bcs bowl.
