This post is not a flame for the one or two Tulane fans out there. Should Tulane drop their football program? The program is down right awful. They have to lose a substantial amount of money year in and year out, correct? Tulane is either playing in front of crowds of 5,000 for home games or the visting teams (ex: Southern Miss, Ole Miss, etc.) essentially have the "home advantage" at the Superdome by outnumbering the Tulane fans. They are not competitive. Should the drop the program? I really think they should and focus on basketball and baseball only. I think by focusing and putting their money into these two sports, they could possibly become a national power. What do yall think?

They should drop down to FCS. They'd do well in that division.

No they just need to try to compete. They'll never get big crowds but they can be a 6 win every year if the administration wanted them to.

I feel like we need to make some kind of changes. Either make the dedication to compete or drop down. The program is just depressing right now. UCF scored 31 points in the first quarter Saturday. 31 in the first quarter. That's absurd.

Build an on (or close to) campus stadium. Put some money into the program.

I don't think Tulane should drop football anymore than say Rice.

No, they probably wouldnt. They left the SEC thinking they could win in a lesser conference and that didnt work either. If the administration keeps the same mentality that they dont really care about winning then they wont win.

I think this can only carry yall so far. It may provide an initial spark, but it would wear off after a couple of seasons in my opinion. New Orleans is a LSU town no matter how you slice it.

This is debatable

There arent too many conferences looking for baseball and basketball only members. Especially since tulane basketball and baseball havent been good recently.

I bet most people would rather have TCU play Tulane this week over frickin New Mexico.

Tulane would give'em a game in the Superdome better than the Lobos at home in the Pit.

In the end, TCU would win, but the Green Wave has won this year. Lobos not so much.

This game hurts TCU more than it helps them.

Baylor, Rice, SMU, TCU, Tulane and Vandy should all be in one conference together.

You see how well TCU has done as a member of the MWC rather than getting their brains beat out week in and out like has happened to Baylor.

I dunno if Rice or SMU have a pulse. But at least they would all be competitive in a conference race.

It is, but student participation would be much better with an Uptown facility. There are a lot of people that would go for the hell of it if Tulane had an SMU type stadium Uptown.

They need to hire a coach that will bring some excitement to the program. A coach like Frank Wilson would be a great hire for them. He's a local guy who would recruit the hell out of the N.O. I don't know how great of a head coach he would be but he would bring more interest in the program than there is now.

Fwiw as an LSU fan I'd hate to lose Wilson

disagree. ULL can be a solid program with a rational coach in there. Same with ULM but Laffy has much better facilities.

Also Louisiana is a fertile recruiting ground. I know they aren't gonna get blue chip recruits but they should at least be more competitive than they are.

ETA same with La fricking Tech
