Anyone from New Orleans remember this? Was it really that good or is my childhood memory glamorizing it?
I used to go to St Paul's First English not far from there...

This.
Drive out to Rocky and Carlos. Then hit Melba's on the way back. Yikes.

It wasn't a good birthday party unless they had the little Melba's cups with the wooden spoons.

Yep-- it was on Franklin. When I was really young, my grandparents still lived on Painters Street in the 8th Ward. We'd hit up Melba's every time we'd visit.
That old sign was still around up until Katrina. Hell, I hadn't noticed, but it might still be there.

This! I remember going there to buy the box of these cups and the spoons for many a birthday parties. Sort of a 9th Ward staple back in the early to mid - 60's.

If you would drive out to Rocky's, you would have to stop at the Haye's Creamery on St. Claude near the parish line for ice cream.
Now we are going back in time.
