i really like the movie but i wasn't a crazy fanboy who was vying for it to win best picture. i recognized its flaws but i still enjoyed it. that being said, is the special edition worth it? im also a bit interested in learning about how the technology was used, and i don't own the film so this would be my only copy

also, how much extended footage is actually put into this dvd?

No. The original version is nothing to get excited about either.

No. They only added a very tiny bit of deleted material.

And No. Because even though you think you loved the movie without the 3-D, it is unwatchable in regards to repeat watchings.

was not impressed with this movie at all.

the cgi is good but the story was nothing more than fern gully.... it did not deserve to be in the discussion for best picture.

for me it was a watch one time movie.

This movie was almost unwatchable when I tried to watch it for a 2nd time when it came out on HBO.

i wish they just had something separate for the feature length documentary. that's most of the reason why i want it...

Just like everyone else, I would only watch it in 3D. I couldn't imagine getting your money's worth on the special edition blu-ray.

i saw it first in 2D and i loved it. then there was so much hype about the 3D that i had to see it. i was majorly disappointed with it and i didn't understand what was so revolutionary about it. maybe it's because the last 3D movie i saw was Spy Kids 3D

I MIGHT buy it, but only because I don't already own the "regular" edition. If I owned the first version there's no way I'd even consider it.

Only if it is much more special than the original and not very special edition.

You should probably wait 3 or 4 years for the Platinum Extended Edition Director's Cut Special Edition Blu-Ray in 3-D.
