I certainly don't follow women's basketball recruiting enough to defend this recruit, but from what I have heard, she is a foreign player that is under the radar and is very well thought of. Could be wrong.

Chancellor is more concerned about his golf game right now then returning LSU to the Final Four

Also, she has some international experience. Van coached WNBA players so I surmise that he knows what he's doing. LSU also is still recruiting another guard (Asia Boyd from Renaissance High in Michigan) who is rated as a top 50 prospect. Am I concern, which she received only two offers from major Division I programs? Not at all. Tyrus Thomas received only one scholarship from Rice prior to LSU making an offer. In like manner, Tyrann Mathieu on the football team was rated only a three star on Rivals. In my opinion, a lot of these recruiting services are over inflated. Only time will tell what type of player Van recruited.

Sorry to disappoint you bee Rye, but you are basing your opinion on old information. Every day at practice at least 3 major division 1 conference schools were attempting to recruit her. Coach Chancellor, Starkey, Mays and Crenshaw always recruit players that will help their team. Case in point (Krystal Fortham).

Who else are they going after? How many more does he intend to sign in this class?

Asia Boyd from Renaissance High in Detroit who is rated as a top 50 prospect.

LINK

Also keep in mind that Van has already received a commitment from the number 60 rated player in 2012 (Chardonne Fuqua 6'0 F from Hover, AL)

He has completely destroyed out consistent Top Four team. Now we are 4-6 in the SEC. The old fart needs to be sent packing

she is a foreign player

If you look at everyone's last names it seems like the whole team is basically foreign.

You seem to have forgotten, or never knew that Pokey was not the most prolific of recruiters--Hightower, Graham, Eason, Morris, Mischa Williams, Porscha Phillips (who transferred to UGA) While Hightower was excellent, and as much as I love KG, Eason, and Morris, championships are not built around these kinds of players alone.

You also need a Barrett, a Plaisance, a Forthan, a Hughes, etc. all of which Van is getting.

Pokey left Van with FOUR, count 'em 4 players--Morris, Hightower, Eason, and Graham. (after Phillips' transfer) Hightower was the only one of the four who had played more than 4 minutes a game.

Van had a helluva task ahead of him and he is handling it as well as one can when he's going up against the Tenn, UGA, all of the state of TX, Uconn, etc. for top prospects

Pokey had a super recruiting class lined up. Top players nationally from Kalifornia, Texass, Mississippi, etc. Old fart kept none and lost everyone. That class would have maintained our top four status.

You also might want to go back and check the roster for old fart's first team, players like Big Sylvia, etc. which went to the Final Four. Pokey would have kept that going; he hasn't. Had he done his job and recruited like Pokey, we would still be top four.

We still had Fowles, Chaney, White, Thomas, LeBlanc under Van, but I see where you are getting at when you actually look down the road from those particular players.

After loading up in the 2005 class, Phillps and Hightower were the only players we got in the 2006 class (which was kinda puzzling to me)

Graham and Eason are the only ones I know that are still left on the team for the 2007 team.

We had to load up for 2008 and that left us being a young team for a couple of years.

Calm down there. Pokey may have recruited well, but she was one of the more inept coaches at LSU in recent memory. She should have had a minimum of two championships with the talent that we had. You're obviously still bitter that Pokey got caught doing whatever she was doing and was let go for it.

Should have never lost to Baylor in Indianapolis and they went on to win it all. Big time choke job by everyone involved to lose double digit first half lead and get beat.

I appreciate what both Van and Pokey has contributed to the program. The truth of the issues was no matter how good or great a recruiter Pokey was, she had to leave based on the allegations of improper behavior with basketball players. In summation, we had to find another coach and in my opinion, Van was the best coach available for the job given his vast experience and previous WNBA championships.

Van in my opinion has done a good not great recruiting job however; the quality of players of which he landed will elevate the program for years to come. This year alone, he’s already received a commitment from the number four rated player in the country along with another commitment from Chardonne Fuqua from Hoover, AL who is rated in the top fifty for next year. hence, when you add those players with the current players on the team, you will see that the Tigers will be a continuous top 25 program for years to come.
