Throwing deep

If we don't do it at all, the defenses don't have to gameplan for it...did JJ or JL throw a pass longer than the Ware TD pass? The secondary was Auburn's weakness, yet we don't even try to expose it???

I think Lee attempted one, but was incomplete. Other than that..no we never went deep with it. Screens and slants.

JJ's pick was fairly long, as was the one tolliver dropped before the eventual JJ running td.

Um, I don't know which game you watched, but when did our QB's have the time to throw deep?
Nice example of another ranter having no clue about what he is talking about.

Lee tried to go deep a couple of times, one of them he missed so bad you couldn't tell which wr he was throwing to and the other RR had to do PI to keep it from being picked. We cant throw deep with either QB.

Four all game.
JJ to Randle in the 1st - Int.
Lee to Randle in the 2nd - incomplete
JJ to Toliver in the 2nd - drop and would have been a sure touchdown. Granted, this was not the play. JJ broke contain and Toliver broke off his route and went behind the defense.
Ware to Randle - TD.
So only four times and only three times was the deep ball actually called.
Fire Crowton.

AGAIN, I ask "when did the QB's have the time to drop back and have time to throw deep"? Seems like the OL wasn't helping keep the rush away for more than 2 seconds.

Yes, Lee attempted one to Randle on a 3rd and 7. I hate that call. As much as people hate throwing short of the first down marker on 3rd down, a deep pass is worse, especially given our QB play. It's a great 1st or 2nd down call and a horrible 3rd down call. On 3rd down, you call a play that will give us a chance at getting the 1st down.

Glad you asked. Several times our QBs dropped back and had time to throw, but we were, as par for the course, running short routes anywhere but the middle of the field.
And, seeing as we were having trouble blocking Fairly, wouldn't have been nice to call a screen play, or keep a back in to chip block?
But, remember, Gary Mr. Wizard Crowton doesn't make adjustments. He runs "his" offense whether it works or not.

Lee tried one, incomplete. JJ had two throws of at least 20 yards; the interception and the drop by TT in the two-minute drill. Lee's wrist injury definitely effected his throwing ability in the second half. Just as soon have had JJ in the whole second half because of that IMO.

what i cant understand is how you have a reciever who is 6 5 and has the potential to be a great wr and you cant tell the quarterback to drop back 5 steps and just throw it down the sideline every now and then....qb puts it close and i'll say tolliver catches it half the time.

This. If we would have started hurting them with slants and screens over the middle, it would have caused them to use more caution when coming after our QB's. Thus, buying time to throw down field. Instead not one single adjustment was made. We ran the exact same offense all game. Auburn ( probably with a huge grin on their face) just stacked the box, stuffed the run and got pressure before any routs could develop. Our line got dominated but it wasn't their fault everytime. A lot of the time they were simply out numbered.

Our OLINE would not let JJ or JL throw deep. This game was on our bad OLINE play. Ark. beat AU throwing deep, but they have a good OLINE.

Who has responsibility to recruit O-Lineman?

There were actually quite a few chances. Our OL did play like shite, but there were a few times JJ/JL had a shot downfield and either ran it, or threw one of those ugly arse slant/screens Crowton loves. If they had gone deep, I imagine they would have been picked anyway.
